Still running strong! Has 3510 been in service at all?

October can't come quick enough, ready for those new MAX buses to hit the streets.

Speaking of new, is it confirmed that there won't be any new local buses purchased this year? Considering the new Mini-Buses and MAX buses added to the fleet.

Saw 2604 today in the Law Enforcement Memorial wrap. Wonder why the keep putting special wraps on buses they're planning to retire soon.

If the wrap isn't planned to be used for too long, or it needs to go to some special events for a backdrop, a unit that would be retired soon would make sense. Wraps can leave minor paint damage that needs to be fixed when they are removed. Also if they were planning to have it attend a few events or press conferences an older unit works better logistically as it would be probably sitting around otherwise. The general public just sees a bus, they aren't going to notice it's a 2006 and wonder why it's not a 2019.

I haven't been able to find anything else about potential new buses but I did find a familiar sight on Gillig's redesigned website as well as Google Street View.

Yeah makes sense, but lately here ATA has had a tenancy to leave buses wrapped for a while. 2612 the Vets bus has had the same wrap for about 2 years now, so seemed strange.

I'm willing to bet that Proterra gets the award, unless ATA is willing to wait until Mid-Late 2020 for Gillig to start producing their all-electric buses. I know Gillig is still sending CNG buses, but I'm not so sure how long that will last.

And omg, throwback to when ATA ran Independence service, nostalgia indeed. Sad to see service getting cut in Independence.

Holy hell! They stayed with Gillig, RIP hopes for Proterra.

I had a feeling that Gillig would produce our electric buses and that the ATA were doing their due diligence.

A lot of the drivers want something other than Gillig.

And speaking of the Gillig Electric bus. Look what I happened to see on ATA earlier today. Im sure @neoartic7101 will have better pics if he worked today.

Personally I'm pro-Gillig, but I would've loved to see Proterra enter the fray. I guess not.

I couldn't get better pics. Lol I had to rush to get to the Indiana to relieve my driver on the Main MAX. LOL

It's the Gillig prototype. Has the BRT roof flares with the BRT light set-up option. The Gillig LF Plus.

I'm hoping we can get those babies, probably not.  Only thing I ask for is to not some wonky headsigns that throw off the format of them for the rest of the fleet. (I'm looking at you new MAX buses).

Anyhow, RideKC posted a pic of it on social media, so there's our proof lol. I;m excited to see them hit the streets.

Ah yes, the Gillig with a face only a mother could love. Sometime next year St. Louis Metro is also looking to get a few of these electric buses.

On some transit fan websites this Gillig LF "Plus" is also known as the beluga bus. These models were first introduced by VTA in hybrid form.

Nice pictures! Can't wait until these hit the streets. Summer 2020 is gonna be nice for sure. I'm guessing these will be numbered 5000-5001? or will they go back to the 2000s?

Also, if my math is correct. Since ATA has roughly 99 diesel units left, this order of 94 will completely replace those, and also note, that unless I'm missing something, There aren't going to be any more CNG units purchased (at least for the ATA).

I am not sure how the numbering sequence will be for the electric buses or any of the 40ft buses. But I have a feeling that we will see more 30ft buses to replace the 2600s than 40ft buses.

According to something I read today (link below) the first 5 electric buses are replacing 5 diesels (which I would have to assume is the 2600s or the Hybrid MAX buses).

Over the next 5 years, I suspect they would be replacing
2600s - 5 Buses
2700s - 12 buses
4000s - 6 Buses
4100s- 6 Buses
S137-S159 - 23 Buses (maybe a few less)
S160-S193 - 34 Buses
3524-3533 - 10 Buses

96 diesel units left, and the contract is for 94 buses. I'm guessing with the way ATA is trending we'll probably see more small units (hope not though). But we'll just see how it happens as it happens.

The link also has a few other points and summery of points brought up at the recent meeting, nothing too exciting.

Looks like they will replace the 2600s first.

The hybrids won't be replaced until around 2023-2025. And the numbers are more like this (since the shortage more 2600s are used lately)

2600s 19 buses, for the simple fact they bought them back into service minus 4 from what I can see and Imma just say all 19 need to be replaced.

3510-3511 will be replaced once 3548-3559 are up and running... then so on and so forth.

Also, speaking in general for the KCATA wiki.... 3535-3536 has the newer Voith 864.6, not the 864.5 and 4800-4819, 3537-3547 and S211-S228 have the Allison B3400xfe, not the Allison B400R5. That needs to be updated.

I completely forgot that they have most running again. I'd be under the impression though that some of the MAX buses would be replacing some of the 2600s,, since the 71 wouldn't need the demand for 9 large buses, but 9 MAX instead.

Also, is Prospect MAX going to be starting soon in October or is it a New Years start up?

Well that's a random ass day to chose. Whatever works I guess.

Yeah, bus was damaged pretty badly in the back rear. The 4800s just can't catch a break apparently.

Yeah, but it is random because we have a mark-up for the Prospect MAX in November and need 2 weeks to get ready to do any new route we pick. Union rules.

Speaking of which, I just picked new routes Thursday, I will be doing the 31 Monday-Wednesday and the 71 on weekends.

This mark-up lasts 2 months then we pick again because of the PMAX.

Then we have a holiday/vacation mark-up coming right after that and another mark-up for January thru March.

🤷🏿‍♂️

Fair enough, but man that must be annoying to change a bunch of times.
