In regards to the New Flyer XE40s a number of them are inactive based off of my observations as well as several fellow transit fans in central Ohio.

  • Both 2021 XE40s are active
  • Most of if not all 22xx XE40s appear to be inactive. Only 2222 has been spotted active in recent weeks
  • Most of the 23xx XE40s are active daily.
  • Only 2401-2403, 2405, 2407, 2409, 2412 and 2415 are currently active based off of observations

Also bus 1302 has been inactive since November of 2024

Some of the CMAX branded Gillig BRTs have been used for crosstowns given ongoing issues with the XE40s

The 1200 diesels have also been being relied on pretty heavily for picking up the slack during rush hour there were 2 1200s out and no 2400s at all

I had 2212 Tuesday. For whatever reason, CMAX buses seem to end up on the lines 21 & 24 all the time. My only guess is the crosstown lines don’t have any way to be relieved on the street. The AM operator brings a bus back and the PM takes another bus out. But yeah, I’ve been told by mechanics that most of the repair bays are filled with New Flyers.

Side note about the crosstowns, they frequently have to wait for a bus to become available in the afternoon. I guess there are that many problems with NF.

Edit: I just started doing the CMAX today for half the day. Holy cow is it busy lol. But the ability to change traffic lights is pretty freaking cool.

If you see a driver with a ball cap, long hair, and stubble, it’s probably me 😂

Just saw 1132 on the cmax downtown so it appears for the time being COTA has "UNRETIRED" it

Wow, that’s usually a training bus.

I don’t know if this has been made public yet, but we will not be offering park & ride services to Red, White & Boom this year because of low demand. There will be standby coaches ready to fill in as overflow for fixed-route services downtown, however.

Wow, good thing i take the 10 downtown and back for the event. There's an unconfirmed rumor COTA is switching back to gillig and potentially getting articulated gilligs for the BRT
