COTA is now also looking to add electric buses to the fleet alongside new flyer Xcelsiors but sadly no manufacturer has been chosen yet.

COTA had an auction today: 3 25xx Gilligs (I assume the last of them) and a bunch of mainstream were sold off. Sadly my camera died on me this morning so all i had was my cellphone which sucks ?

Bus 2512 was the only complete bus and ran just like it did when it was in service

Image10202018083150.thumb.jpg.52068cac667f60d467a747de3fdc481d.jpg

bus 2503 had side panels ripped off possibly from an accident. bus was still running.

Image10202018083248.thumb.jpg.1dccf8b9bac76f2293d48b3d9c11e53b.jpg

bus 2510 appears to have been used as a parts bus (maybe to fix up other 25xx units that were privately sold off?). Driver's Seat and one passenger window were missing. Surprisingly the bus was RUNNING.

COTA Mainstream:

bus 1269 was auctioned off in running condition

Image10202018083859.thumb.jpg.401fcf0b8e30e89fdfd63fb0794a81d1.jpg

1273 became a parts bus and was auctioned off full of used rims and ac covers as well as other junk. Bus didn't run

Image10202018083927.thumb.jpg.738832e1fae0d5286d723d93e98617a1.jpg

Bus 1264 was auctioned off as a non runner. appears part of the drive shaft broke???

(I hit my photo limit for the forums here so from here on to the end I posted the links to the photos on my deviant art page)

Bus 1263 was auctioned off as a non running unit. This bus appears to be in good shape

Bus 1166 was auctioned off as a non running unit. Bus appeared to be in good shape

Bus 1278 was auctioned off as a non running unit. Some parts were missing

Bus 1275 was auctioned off as a running unit.

Bus 1261 was auctioned off as a non running unit. This bus was a one of a kind in the fleet as it was a knelling bus and only had 1 door for passengers and wheelchairs. The battery door was open so I bet it was likely a dead battery. The bus didn't look like it was missing any parts

Bus 1165 was auctioned off as a non running unit.

Non Auction related news:

All current active and retired chevy buses for COTA Mainstream are Chevy/Champion Cutaways with the exception of 1261. Bus 1261 may not be a champion. Also all buses had duramax Diesel engines as seen here: https://www.deviantart.com/tape-city/art/Duramax-Diesel-Engine-769108828

Fleet number range for the 12XX chevys appear to be 1261-1281 but i wont know for sure until all are retired.

buses 1041 and 2909 were out of service and sitting next to the auction stuff. both had their wheelchair ramps missing.

https://www.deviantart.com/tape-city/art/COTA-Bus-1041-Out-Of-Service-769110301

COTA's newest batch of Mainstream vehicles are are ford transit vans. Only spotted 1 but it was #1863 sadly i couldn't get a photo of it at the time.

All 27xx units are out of service. A good number of 28xx units are also out of service 2808 was the only one i could easily spot before the Number 12 came to my bus stop.

and finally i can now confirm all 17xx Gilligs (CMAX and regular units) have electric doors. This means these are the first buses to feature electric doors

I may be late on this but all 5 2005 new flyers were sold to CATA. 2524 was renumberd as 627.

Either Battle Creek has bought more of these buses or the Site that mentioned the 2 former COTA buses got their numbers wrong @simonsevillematt Spotted 2715 in battle creek as 630 with its original Livery intact but featuring ads and different rims. Now trying to contact Battke creek to Get an answer... Images are from Discord.

an update to the cota buses sold to battle creek. the website that posted the news about the new buses got some info wrong and I can now confirm that 625 and 626 are actually brand new buses bought with a federal grant. 630 is Ex cota 2715. The other unit is being fitted for service but its fleet number is with BCT (and its former COTA number) are unknown. all information is verified as i asked Battle creek transit themselves on facebook.

COTA buses 2402 and 2403 were also sold to CATA but 2402 is being used used as a parts bus. the info about them being removed in november of 2016 is now known to be incorrect (I guess they were moved from 1 bus barn to the other around that time???

2 bits of info

Ford transit vans: i have now seen units 1861 and 1862 active. so now i know of at least 3 units.

2010 gillig advantage

Bus 1031 sufferd some sort of radiator leak on 4/12/18 and leaked fluid on the interstate. A car hit the fluid and crashed as a result with the driver not surviving the incident. I have spotted that bus active this week.

I couldn't find the full news article unfortunately https://abc6onyourside.com/on-your-side/cota-employees-raise-concern-about-safety-of-buses-after-deadly-accident
