I learned this morning that we do have a couple of remaining 2500 series New Flyers but they are in contingency. This means that they are used in case of emergency, and occasionally as training buses. Those coach numbers are 2520, 2521, 2522, 2523 & 2524. In regards to Gilligs, we do still have some in service, including 2501! Those coach numbers are 2501-2512."

MCTAbus
January bits of info 1999 Novabus LFS: These buses were the first Low floor buses in COTA's fleet. 9903 was sold to a charter service. I spotted the bus on the road 1/9/16. All COTA livery has been removed from the bus except the number. 2001 New Flyer D40LF: 2102 was sold to MidWest Bus Corp, it was spotted there on 10/17/14. I don't know if the bus is still there or not. Evidence: http://www.michaeltaylor.ca/bus-us/midwest/col-2102.html . 2151 was also repainted in the current livery prior to retirement. Evidence: 2004-2005 Gillig Advantage: These buses were the first 35ft Low floor Buses in the fleet 2007 Gillig Advantage: First buses to feature Tip in windows 2008 Gillig Advantage: First buses with LED interior lighting. 2016 Gillig BRT: The CMax route will be launched in January of 2018 (the bus will be inactive till then?) para-transit Project Mainstream (AKA COTA Mainstream) is the para-transit service of COTA and offers service within 3/4 of a mile of a fixed route bus line. 16xx Chevy : Buses have a different seating configuration. EDIT: 1989 Flxible Metro CNG ADB 40102-6C This was an experimental Unit and also the first Production CNG Metro by flxible. MCTAbus
More information after looking over new cota tsr routes (and getting side tracked) all remaining 2005 Gillig Advantages, the remaining 2 New flyer D40LF, and all 2007 Gillig advantage units are to be retired by September 2017 the 2007 Gilligs are likely being retired without replacements as a result of COTA's TSR changes which will reduce the number of peek hour (express) routes. Evidence http://www.cota.com/COTA/media/PDF/SRTP/2017-2021-SRTP-Draft-IV.pdf (page 108) New buses coming for this year. 13 new Gillig CNG buses are being ordered this year and will be in a mixture of 35ft and 30ft units that will be delivered by April 30th 13 additional buses will be delivered by September 30th for the new CMAX route and will branded with the Cmax livery (see previous post with the CMax pic) Evidence http://www.cota.com/COTA/media/PDF/SRTP/2017-2021-SRTP-Draft-IV.pdf (page 111)
MCTAbus
May Update #1 all the 2004/2005 Gilligs and 2005 New Flyers are now inactive due to major service changes that took effect May 1st. Most if not all the 2007 Gilligs are now inactive due to major service changes that took effect May 1st. A few are being used as training buses. 2730 was spotted yesterday as a training unit. 2017 Gilligs Numbers are 1701-1713 with 1704 being one of the 30ft Buses Also does anyone have the VINS for the 2016 & 2017 Gilligs as well as the 2003 & 2004 New Flyer D40LFs? MCTAbus
May Update Number 2 Bus 1415 is out of service after a bad accident on the interstate. The driver was hurt but there were no passengers on at the time of the crash. Based on the damage to the bus which I saw on the news I think 1415 may be out of service for good. Bus 1423 is back in service as of 5/15/17 COTA auction is coming up soon...
MCTAbus
Final may Update 1415 is now confirmed as a total loss. The bus will likely have any salvageable parts removed and eventually be auctioned off. Bus 2501 somehow managed to get a training run after the TSR service changes and from what I am told may stay active as a training bus for a little longer. 2713 was briefly put back into service and was spotted on 5/20/17. Not sure if that bus is is still active now or not. Several 27xx Units are now in the contingency fleet. I will not post again until after the COTA auction. Random CNG buses appear to have had more security cameras (or door sensors?) installed. I'm not sure what this box is though. (see photo). Cota is also going to get new fair boxes in the near future.
