OMG, why can't people just follow the health guidelines and wear a mask??? The more people that comply the faster this pandemic will be over! On an unrelated note, when did TransLink go to really old-school fareboxes?

Very recently, they are in process of replacing the fareboxes in the whole fleet with the manual TAG farebox, a Canadian company. Also, we are now using paper tear off transfers,

Why does this need to be discussed in the Edmonton section? It doesn’t. Refer to the Vancouver section for Vancouver related topics, please and thank you.

ETS might be reallocating buses again. 2 routes in that block are crosstowns

Possibly, but given that it is only one random block and it happened right in the middle of the week I would put my money on it being a fluke. Nonetheless, I have definitely been wrong before so I guess tomorrow will tell!

I had been wondering if it was a floater, but, it appears it started in service on that block. I guess that's not to say it wasn't a floater and dispatched almost immediately at 5AM this morning. While I'm not aware of a artic floater, one morning 4963 was sitting at CP pulled further a head than the usual 700's, with NIS on the sign as multiple 700's passed it by. Could have been a dead bus, could have been a floater.

I attempted to shoot the bus Downtown, but, a car screwed me over, so ended up heading for the 147 St to catch it there.

While I was there, 4658 was this afternoons floater bus that hangs out at the loop. It had been on my To Do list to shoot that. That loop will be gone in the near future for WVLRT construction.

Red Arrow and EBus shifted their South Edmonton stop to Southgate Transit Centre as of March 22, replacing the Ramada Hotel stop. As well on the 22nd they started stopping at Sorensen Station in Red Deer.

This is the last week of the Camrose Connector after the Provincial government has ceased funding. Not sure what happened tot he regular unit, but there was a notice that it would be running with a Ebus unit, and that was indeed what was on it for the midday departure, seen here at University Transit Centre.

And since I covered PWT buses serving Southgate and University... a recent shot of an Ebus starting it's trip at Kingsway/ RAH.

Agreed, terrific shot!

The one thing I'll always remember 4428 for, was being the bus that my family got a pic of during the flash floods of `04. Taken on 169 Street in Elmwood, when 4428 was still brand-new:

Speaking of said flood - here is a screen grab of that same storm.  Sorry for the BMP and low quality - this was leading edge technology back in those days - being able to watch live TV on a computer was a novelty back then.   I still remember where I was day - I remember watching that angry black cloud just hover.

Go to the City of Edmonton website.  There is a 3-1-1 general form. Fill it out and request a system map be mailed to you (provide your mailing address). I got one mailed to me, plus some route brochures because my local library did not have them even though they were supposed to.

I was in Edmonton recently for a doctors appointment and I decided to ride 4259. I tracked this bus down using Transit55 because as far as I know it is the oldest bus in service with ETS. The driver was really kind and let me ride for free because of why I was riding. It was running a 918B

While driving on the Whitemud I saw 8000 not in service and presumably broken down. This is the first time I've seen a Proterra and an electric bus for that matter

While riding 4259 I also saw 4374 at the West Edmonton Mall Transit Center running a 917 to Lewis Farms.

I have more pictures if y'all wanna see them!

Hello all,

Is there somewhere other than City Hall I am able to pick up route brochures/system maps? I will be in Edmonton next month but it'll be on a weekend

City Hall has never carried them anyways. Best bet might be a library or on a bus. Supply on buses has improved over the last couple of days. Apparently they ran out of the first printing and are on a second printing now.

Wasn't there at one point a stand with all the brochures at the ETS customer service counter?

Customer service is long gone from there, and Edmonton Tower is in full blown lock down because customer service is apparently too risky to provide with Covid. City Hall too for that matter, and they might keep them locked down beyond the Provincial reopening.
