It looks as if instead they are retiring for each new coach that makes it debut in service?

I dont think weve had as many retirements XN40 to D40LF as compared to XDE60 to D60LF's Edit: ill also chime in the fact that these D60LFs have had quite a tough life, 98 B-Line & Burnaby Mountain after so many years, they just arent holding out the same as the D40LFs are. If it wasn't for the service improvements needed and coming, the XN40s would have retired many more D40LFs than they did. Also, the service added in April is just a small part of what will be added. From what I've heard, September will see some big changes and additions. And on that note, we could see some of the new bus loop at metrotown in action for the start of the September sheet. I would imagine retirement worthy artics are more maintenance intensive as well given the joint. If you have a 40' with cosmetic problems that's one thing, but an artic with a failing joint that needs heavy rebuilding or new bellows if you were to keep pushing it another year, well...
Stormscape
I do imagine all the retired D60LFs will mean they'll be able to Frankenstein together some buses by using the good parts from several buses, assuming the amount of work isn't too high for the amount of life they'd get from the part pulling. I'd imagine, though, that apart from the artic joint, most of those parts can also be used as spares for D40LFs - and the frames of the D40LFs are in better shape because they haven't been run as hard as the D60LFs. Off by one! Having said that, 8086 and 8101 did retire in late 2015. Going by the wiki, anyway.
