Nice looking train! https://twitter.com/GreenLineYYC/status/1461016459702939655?s=20 Sorry I’d like to chime in I’m hearing that other places with similar trains from CAF are reporting issues with them so let’s hope it’s not going to have issues. I’d also like to say I said something on that announcement apparently these trains can hold 150 more people then the older ones.
CTrainDude
There’s definitely a few properties around the world dealing with repairs to cracked bogie boxes. Hopefully now that it’s been identified as an issue, there can be adjustments made to prevent this in new builds. It’s not realistic to expect they’d be trouble free, but it would be hard to be worse than the last few series of Siemens LRVs we’ve gotten anyway - when they’re first delivered from Siemens, they’re really hot trash.
LRT
Didn’t series 8s have weld issues with their bogies? I don’t think I have enough room or time to mention what’s up with the series 9‘s

The CBC reported a couple years ago that Bombardier, Alstom, KinkiSharyo, and CAF were the ones shortlisted to bid on the contract.

2044
Layout seems very similar to Edmonton’s and Toronto’s Flexity’s. What was the reason with going 100% low floor instead of high floor like the rest of the system or even 70% low floor? The Flexity’s in Toronto are great, but the 100% low floor design is something that always comes up. It can be a bit awkward to navigate when crush loaded. People don’t really seem to like the quad seating either.
Pantograf
The mockup has been sitting at Anderson for over a week now. I've seen it and had a chance to go inside it, I wasn't very impressed and to think that the earliest we'll see these trains in service is in 2030, the design of the interior/exterior, electronics and cab layout will be almost 10 years old by then. TimmyC62
I shudder at those seats' lumbar "support" digging into the lower back like the side seats on the S200s.

You’re still driving U2s designed in the late 1950s though, so it probably won’t seem that bad.

I'm sure it can't be worse than Boeing still pushing out brand new airplanes with a 60 year old design, right? 59 minutes ago, TimmyC62 said: I shudder at those seats' lumbar "support" digging into the lower back like the side seats on the S200s. I second that, the seats on the mockup look awful (subject to change my mind if I get a chance to check it out on public display), but I have a feeling the final product will look quite a bit different inside and out.
whatchyyc
70% low floor trains are horrifically ugly and worm looking... It'll take some adjusting but the segments without a bogie seem to be pretty spacious and have 2 doors each.

Honestly, they seem like a step up from the S200. I’m 6’5, so I speak from the daily back ache I’ve had since 2017. They seem to have at least a vague butt indent (not that sliding really is an issue on transverse seating) and the chair height seems to be more similar to that of an insight than the other LRV seats. The issue I find with the S200 seats is that the lumbar support is quite sharp and lacks top recovery (because the chairs don’t have top back coverage ) but the height on these would hopefully negate this? A dream come true would be Calgary Transit pulling a MUNI and replacing the seats with USSC Aries… (Yes, I do hit my head every time I get off the train. An imprint that says “Door 11” has started forming on my forehead.) 5

Maybe CT is going to use the 3000 series for low floor LRT, which could mean that the vehicles currently in the series will be renumbered, perhaps into the now vacant 5000 series. I can't think of any off the top of my head … During my time at CT this was how it was explained to me. 1 - 1163 - Low Floor buses 1200 - 1999 - Shuttles 2000 series - LRT 3000 series - non revenue miscellaneous vehicles like trailers, scooters, etc 4000 series - Supervisor vans, PS vans, tow truck 5000 series - MCI 6000 series - articulated buses 7000 series - high floor Flyers 7500 series - low floor Flyers 8100 series - low floor Novas. Of course it changed over time and there were exceptions, the two U2AC were 3001 and 3002 before being renumbered 2101 and 2102. while 8000 and up is now both Nova and New Flyer. 15 minutes ago, PartiallySD said: I vaguely remember some #3000 non revenue LRT equipment (don’t think they start at 3001 anyways.)
