Would you happen to know anything about the present status of 4216, 4228, 4230, 4247, 4011, or 4043? I remember you told us earlier this year that 4216 and 4043 were sidelined with a bleak future, just wondering if they've been officially canned yet or not. Give me a few weeks to track them down, and I’ll keep you informed. Also, 4213 and 4220 were hauled off to the scrapper yesterday. 1

T3G
It would appear that 4011 has resurfaced. Been watching it on the trackers for a while and its GPS was reactivated on Friday, and it looks like it was dead headed back to Russell last night. T3G
Can anyone confirm whether 4011 was on the 506 this morning? I swung by Russell yesterday on my way home from work and I could see it on a hoist on track 1, so I know it still physically exists, but whether it was genuinely out in service this morning is a mystery to me. I had the day off today and saw that it was alleged to be out in service, so I went to go search for it on the eastern end of the 506, but it never ended up making it up to Main Street station. It ended up holding on Gerrard just east of Broadview, and, seeing that the GPS kept reporting fresh data (not a cached location), and knowing that the car still exists, I headed over to see what was going on, but it transpired that the car wasn't there, despite the active GPS reportings. Very strange and monumentally unhelpful. The GPS ended up dying this afternoon so it is no longer reporting fresh data.

Not sure if it was in service, but I'd assume so, as the data at Transee shows it entered at Coxwell/Gerrard yesterday at 7:39 to Main Station at 7:48, then to High Park by 9:03 and finally terminating at Broadview Gerrard at 10:27 https://www.transsee.ca/triplist?a=ttc&fleet=4011&date=2018-09-27 First time in service in a very long time by the looks of it. Some of the numbers appear to be a little off, like 4080-4081 being built a year later than all the cars around them. Also, according to the book "Toronto Transit Commission Streetcars" by Kenneth C Springirth, 4000 was displayed at the CNE in 1976 (unless this was a typo). EDIT: I remembered only after I posted this that 4002 was the first CLRV to be delivered in 1977, so ignore this tangent. If anyone makes it up to HCRR I highly recommend purchasing this book, though - it's a treasure trove of colour vintage photographs. https://morningsunbooks.com/products/toronto-transit-commission-streetcars 19 hours ago, nfitz said: Not sure if it was in service, but I'd assume so, as the data at Transee shows it entered at Coxwell/Gerrard yesterday at 7:39 to Main Station at 7:48, then to High Park by 9:03 and finally terminating at Broadview Gerrard at 10:27 https://www.transsee.ca/triplist?a=ttc&fleet=4011&date=2018-09-27 First time in service in a very long time by the looks of it. TTCOpITM
I’m not so sure 4246 is retired. It seems as though it is currently being used as a mule at Leslie to shunt the dead cars around the yard.

With the exception of a couple of cars (4013 and 4200 off of the top of my head, possibly one or two more), the rest of them check out. Out of curiosity, do you have serial numbers for any other vehicles built at Thunder Bay? On 9/29/2018 at 12:12 PM, PCC Guy said: If you don't mind me asking, what is the source for this information? Some of the numbers appear to be a little off, like 4080-4081 being built a year later than all the cars around them. The first set of digits indicates the year of completion, with the second set indicating the quarter of completion. So 4080 and 4081 were completed the following quarter, which happened to coincide with the change in year. Realistically, it was only a couple of weeks apart. And if you look elsewhere in the list, you'll see other discrepancies in the same vein. Much like with the Flexities, Thunder Bay had all sorts of issues with assembling the CLRVs and so some cars had to be completed out of order. More interestingly, however, is that the serial numbers used on the CLRVs use an entirely different format than anything else built at Thunder Bay before or after - at least until the purchase of the facility by Bombardier. The traditional formatting of the serials was that the first two digits indicated the last two digits of the year of the start of the construction of the vehicles in the contract, and the next two numbers indicating the approximate length of the vehicles. The last four digits were the sequence of vehicles starting with the first one built in 1965 - TTC H1 subway car 5336. The ALRVs follow this formatting, with "76" indicating their feet in length.
