TTC CLRV/ALRV updates and discussion

Recommended Posts

A TTC driver in the Toronto Transit FB group said that there are posted ALRV extras on the 511 for the June 23 board period.

Of course, whether the cars actually end up running there is another question. We've all seen what just happened to 4221, and it looks like 4207 hasn't run in a few days either?

So I’m assuming CLRVs will come back to the 511 then

They don't run them to neville anymore?

As of June 23, the 501 between Neville and Humber is 100% low floor. Though I’m assuming since the 501L will still be CLRVs for a while longer, they won’t deadhead the CLRVs from Russell to Humber Loop so it’s still possible to ride a CLRV from Russell to Humber at certain times. So likely this will be the end of CLRVs at Neville Park

In other news, 4001 has returned to service

They run in service from the yard to Humber loop, and continue in regular service from there

4220 is tracking again, but we have photo evidence of it being retired and hauled away last year

Something similar happened with 1762, which retired in July but was still trackable until around April.

On a less pleasant note, 4204 appears to have been shut off. Hopefully this isn't the end of the line for the car - I was personally hoping this one would be saved, being that it was the first one to run in service so many years ago.

It seems to be at Leslie now. It went there with 4207 in front. Not sure if it went under it’s own power or was towed by 4207

Seems 4192 ran this morning, but not for long

Both are back at Russell now. Perhaps they were dropping off derelict cars?

4204 and 4207 parked at the back, both still running

I also spotted 4155 and 4165 escorting the Peter Witt down Queen to Leslie Barns. Couldn’t get a good picture

If 4204 is back it might have just been getting repairs done

Sometime in 2020. Those two routes (502/503) are probably the last ones that will return to streetcar service.

Well, that's the claim.

But as nfitz has corrected pointed out several times, there's the small matter of not having enough vehicles left over to operate the service. In fact, there's some concern that the 501L service will remain bustituted for the time being as well for the same reason.

I'm assuming either mechanical or space issues

Mechanical yes, space not so much anymore, at least for dead storage. The Commission recently acquired a surplus rail yard/container terminal in the far west end from Canadian pacific.

Its adequate to store vehicles securely until McNicoll division opens....if they were worth hanging on to, which they’re not.
