Just got back from a Maritime visit which included Saint John, NB. Most of the classics sit in dead storage inside Saint John Transit garage but are still on their active roster. Some of them haven't been moved in almost 2 years and are covered in dust naturally. These are the buses in dead storage:

47605 - 2003 Dupont painted all yellow (officially retired)

52522 - 1985 GM Classic

52624 - 1986 GM Classic

52625 - 1986 GM Classic

52828 - 1988 MCI Classic

52829 - 1988 MCI Classic

52931 - 1989 MCI Classic

52033 - 1990 MCI Classic

52136 - 1991 MCI Classic

46849 - 1998 Nova RTS

46950 - 1999 Nova RTS

32754 - 1997 Orion VI (it may come back one day they said if they ever get the parts to fix it)

Anyone have any new info regarding Saint John's current active fleet? The wiki page states still states that 4 GM Classics, 11 MCI Classics, 6 Nova Classics, and 5 Nova RTS's are still in service, but I reckon that's greatly out of date. I recall seeing one or two Classics last time I was in Saint John several months ago.

As an update, 32754 has been in regular use since I moved to Saint John in early June.

As an update, 32754 has been in regular use since I moved to Saint John in early June.

I haven't seen the rest of those buses in that time. In addition, I've also not seen these other buses:

48240 - 1992 MCI Classic

48341 - 1994 Nova Classic

48342 - 1994 Nova Classic

46848 - 1998 Nova RTS

46951 - 1999 Nova RTS

43455 - 2004 Orion VII CNG

unbelievably the Orion VI STILL in service............that thing was active in the garage collecting dust on my last 2 visit to Saint John, NB...........

New Schedule effective May 3, 2015: http://www.saintjohn.ca/en/home/cityhall/transportation/transit/routesschedules/routesandscheduleseffectivemay32015.aspx

Highlights:

- Earlier end times across the board

- 3/4 is now 30 minute service all day and on Sundays

- 5/6 goes to King's Square instead of the Lancaster Mall and is 30 minute service on weekdays, no evening/weekend service

- 10 and 11 are discontinued

- 12 now goes into Grand Bay-Westfield, replacing the Comex service

- 14 is now 60 minute service during peak hours

- 15 is now 30 minute service during peak hours, 60 minute service midday, evenings and weekends

- 21/23 now service Prince Edward Square; routes are now hourly Monday-Saturday

- 30 is now 45 minute service Monday-Saturday, 60 minute service weeknights, no service on Sunday

- 31 is now 30 minute service Monday-Saturday, 60 minute service weeknights and Sunday

- 33 is now 60 minute service, but with special runs when NBCC has classes

- 34 is now 45 minute service Monday-Saturday, no evening service

- 35 is now 45 minute service during peak hours

The only classics that I've seen recently are 48238, 48239, 48543, and 48646, and the only RTS I've seen since last June is 46847.

I've seen 52930, 48137, 48544, and 48645 in use, but those Classics haven't been out for anywhere in the range of the last 2-6 months

Do Saint John's bus ID numbers hold any info regarding the year of manufacture? The hundredths place, perhaps?

Saint John numbers their buses with the first 2 digits as seating capacity, the 3rd digit as the last number of the year of manufacture, and the 4th and 5th digits are the unit number.

Just curious, but where did you get that list from?

Saint John Transit submitted a fleet survey to CUTA (Canadian Urban Transit Association) for the end of year 2014. The Canadian Transit Heritage Foundation (CTHF) was allowed access to the data to help produce the 2015 edition of "The Street Side Guide".

Saw on the Nova Bus Facebook page, SJT received their first LFS, 40585. Windowless rear. So that means the other one is 40586.

Forgot to take a picture of it, but I saw 40585 about 45 minutes ago operating on the Crescent Valley route. 40586 must also be entering service soon, then.

Farewell to the 1992 Classic and either RTS or 96 Classic! Aren't most of their fleets starting from Orion VII have a/c?
