Sorry for the speculation... But... Given that those buses are on their way out, maybe it's fate has been sealed, hence the lack of urgency...

Agreed

Especially because 49th avenue is supposed to be closed between marine drive and Cambie for the BMO race Sunday morning so they will have to get that bus out of there before then

Yeah, given that these are being retired they're probably going to tow it to the HTC retirement line. So that was probably 8028's final run.

@Peterbiltguy1989@gmail.com saw 9226 disabled on the side of Fraser Highway with various mechanical parts laying on the road. Fire department was on the scene.

I took some photos before it was towed off.

Note that the pre-trip card says "oil spilled and engine fell apart on road"

Sorry to bother you guys, but are you guys sure that 16017 isn't retired after the accident in December? I have a feeling that HTC has 7417 for that very reason.

It makes no sense to retire a bus because of a pedestrian fatality. It’s likely being withheld from service for investigative purposes.

It's a pedestrian accident on a two-year-old bus. They aren't going to write off a multi-hundred-thousand dollar bus, two years in, unless it's completely wrecked.

You get better syntax if you say "a bus worth several hundred thousand dollars"

=========

In any case, one possible outcome is that the bus could be re-numbered or transferred on request of the family members. It's happened in Toronto with a few buses.

There was barely even a dent or a scratch

If they were to retire 16017 after a pedestrian fatality accident, they they should've retired 3344, 15013, 16120, and 19004.

Could 8013 be finished for good or is going to cash in 1 of it's many lives? It was parked EB 49th Ave. just ahead of the Nanaimo Bus Stop. A supervisor & a service truck were on scene when I drove by just after 530. When I was heading back just after 6 it was parked with it's 4 way flashers on & no one around. I'm guessing it could've been waiting for a tow truck?

Probably not, there was a D60LF parked on 49th for a couple days and it is still active

On a side note, one of my driver friends thinks they'll probably fix it from all the spare parts from those D60LFs.
