Collisions and Incidents thread

Recommended Posts

We have been seeing all sorts of incidents with our system, mainly the jump in skytrain shutdowns.

This thread is for the discussion of Skytrain shutdowns, station closures, and etc. Etc. I suppose discussion about crime rates near skytrain stations can be posted here as well.

I would agree with making this SkyTrain related only.

1:30pm "RCIU" failure for switch groups at Metrotown and Joyce (same problem as yesterday), resolved at 1:40pm

2567 was involved in collision with SUV at Victoria Diversion and Commercial Street. Huge delays for 20 Victoria/Downtown route because of blockage of Victoria Diversion

Ouch :( hope the involved parties are okay. Did you see the severity of the damage of 2567?

Could we make this just Skytrain related? I feel like the bus stuff can still go under Special Sightings

Ok sure, skytrain only here on out.

I just thought id merge the 2 topics because S8003 and R8055 had a few pages worth.

Med. Emergency at metrotown; trains single-tracking between 2 surrounding stations. Minor delays.

There was one Monday night too, at Nanaimo. That one lasted a while -- from 9:30 ish to 11:30 ish. I don't remember the exact times, just that I was listening to the radio until I went to bed and it hadn't cleared yet. I think someone had a heart attack or something on the train, since they were working on him for a while. At least it was during the maintenance so that there were fewer trains on the line. Today's messed things up quite a bit.

There was a Red India (human contact with train) yesterday at Lougheed around 4:00 PM as well. But the victim didn't end up in the guideway -- just bounced off the front of the train and back onto the platform. They never closed the station and it never disrupted service.

S8004 was involved in a collision. Sustained dents and some damage to the front and side end; also two broken windows (drivers side and drivers front windows). Didn't get a chance to take a picture.

S8007 was apparently seen emitting dark smoke @ 1:30 near KGB and 104th.

SkyTrain had a minor problem in the morning because the stations or lines were not announced, but I heard operate saying, "Expo line to Surrey" at Columbia Station.

Also on way home when we left 22 nd street station the train was going super slowly.

Thats only because they had assistants there to help with the signs. As for the slow order, I noticed that yesterday

I did not see them. I heard from the PA on the train or in the station.

Why aren't Waterfront bond trains part of the slow order?

There were just a few announcements coming through on "Skyvoice" which is apparently different from the normal announcements. Also, control was making periodic announcements whenever attendants were confused as well. As for the slow order, the Waterfront-bound tracks are different from the Columbia-bound tracks, so a slow order on one side doesn't automatically mean a slow order on the other. I think I remember hearing that it was some piece of equipment the overnight maintenance crews had to leave there and it needed to be "treated with care", hence the slow order. The piece of equipment is not on the other side, hence no slow order.

Fire? Maybe.
Electrical short? Definitely.

Evidence, as reported by Vancity Buzz:

None of these are my videos and I don't take credit for them; I'm just finding them on YouTube as we speak...
