Bombardier Flexity Deliveries

They have, and did some time ago.

 

And as Dave said, the TTC is getting another 60 cars, but they won't start to arrive until late next year.


What is going on with these cars re-entering service is that they have been sent off-site - at Bombardier's expense - for their frames to be rewelded in order to ensure that they meet their contracted 30 year lifespan. The cars have to be completely stripped in order to access the frames, and then reassembled. Because of that, they need to undergo a shakedown once back in Toronto.

Given the cars are over a year out from delivery, I'm not sure the fleet numbers are completely fixed. I think drum118 is just coming up with his own numbers, continuing directly on from the last Flexity delivered (4603).

Also, institutional memory at the TTC is rather weak, so by the time the new cars are delivered they may not remember/realize that 4604/4605 are supposed to be reserved for the PCCs. While they're externally numbered with numbers duplicated by Flexity cars, I don't think anybody is going to be confusing them with the PCCs.

Looks like 4465 has finally been off loaded after sitting in Lambton Yard almost a month. Loaded May 24 for QC. If current time frame remain, it will reenter service the week of Oct 2

4460 will be the last car to be off loaded and close the book on cars going to/from Quebec. It will be fully close once it return to service in October.

As for numbering, I used the add on and surprised someone has posted the info on the 2 PCC like they have in the past. I stand to be corrected, PCC numbers are internal and doesn't effect of the new cars numbering. As noted, easy to tell the PCC numbers from the current fleet even though there are 2 same numbers.

It has nothing to do with the fact the vehicles are or are not the same, or what they look like.

 

It has everything to do with the TTC's systems, be it inventory and rolling stock management, or whatever they use to dispatch the equipment and regulate the maintenance intervals. If the PCCs are logged in those various systems the same way as the rest of the cars, then those numbers can't be reused (although they could be changed).

 

But if they're not, then the numbers of the new fleet can be continuous with those from the old fleet.

I suppose they would have to rebuilt them again in another decade.

Care to provide a source for this claim? As far as the tracking data in this thread goes, a single unit has yet to return from its repairs.

Any upgrades after rebuild? Brighter exterior lights?

At this time, 4460 still hasn't return from QC and over 120 days so far.

Only the cars frames for 4400-4465 (4466) that were made in Mexico were to have the welds fix since there was an issues with them for putting them together in TB. 4467 up frames were build in QC due the issues in Mexico that fixed the weld issues.

As for lighting, same as most Trams out there today and will be up to TTC to make that call at the time of mid life rebuilt. Same goes for other things or what Alstom may suggest.

September 29, 2022, marks 10 years since the delivery of the first Flexity Outlook car, no. 4400. Unfortunately, the car has been out of service for a month now and is not present for the celebration of its 10th birthday.

I know that they have been controversial, but personally I have found the cars to be far more agreeable than most modern transit vehicles of any persuasion. They are one of the best things running right now and I always enjoy any chance I get to ride on them. I can definitely think of many LRVs, such as the Skoda Forcity from Prague, or the Citadis Trams in Lyon, that would make for far less palatable replacements than what we ended up getting. Looking forward to the next generation of cars.

4460 has finally return from Quebec and is now off loaded at Hillcrest. It was loaded on April 12

This close the book for the welding issues and car going to/from Quebec

4465 still not ready to reenter service after been return Sept 13

Look for them around the summer of 2023 as they should arrive just ahead of 4604 or 46xx what TTC is going to use number wise.

It only been 1291 days since TTC saw 4471 and 1371 days for 4478. Both most likely will have the various changes TTC wants in the new 60 cars.

4460 has finally reenter service on 501 and this close the books on the welding issues for the 66 cars 100%.

Since 4460 was off loaded Sept 13 and going into service today, it taken 68 days. This is the longest returns to service since 2020 and goes hand in hand for its 190 days for its return trip.

4460 is still showing last see 8 hours ago like it has been doing for the past 2 weeks. It spent Friday and Saturday out testing.

This thread should be dead now for the 6-9 months until 4471 & 4478 show or the Frist of the next 60 cars been added to the fleet.

We are not talking about whenever any LFLRV goes out of service for any reason. 4400 has already had its welds attended to; whatever ails it is outside of the scope of the thread.

4466 was the 67 and last car to have welds fix, but it was determined that it wasn't needed. I am assuming TTC made the call and other can correct me if this is wrong.
