Dane
VanCity Buzz is reporting that three Translink buses have had Telus WiFi installed for free use by passengers. The signal is provided by Telus and the three vehicles are wrapped for the company. The promo video shows B8125 as one of the three units. Routes are 99, 351, and 555. Unfortunately CPTDB continues to have difficulty supporting the world's most prolific browser and I cannot paste the source link in. If someone could do that I'm sure everyone would appreciate it

Blue Bus Fan
I think this should be a pilot project for TransLink for WiFi on public transit. WiFi could help get people on public transit because people could use their time wisely on their commuters.
Meraki
8125, 9258, and 9266 are the WiFi buses.
Ninja Bus Fan
Hopefully with this and with good feedback, translink can do some studies about implanting wifi on our buses.
Meraki
TransLink has already responded that they don't have the money to do it. This is being paid for by TELUS.
Express691
Wifi skytrain would have caused more havoc, and thats probably why they targeted the ad campaign on buses that run longer distances as express. Explains why D40LF and Novabus dont get them.

Matt Dunlop
I know this isn't related to TransLink, but I was on one of the Wifi equipped buses in Edmonotn, on their Route 747 to the Airport, and the Wifi was really quick! 15mb/s download and 3mb/s upload. Has anybody been on these CMBC buses to test the Wifi speed?
awstott
The article I was reading on it said look for the buses with the flying pigs Telus Wrap. (Free wifi will happen when pigs fly is why they chose that wrap apparently)

I'm not sure what the speed was but it was really fast, it was faster than the LTE on my IPhone ,-,
captaintrolley
Do you have to get a WiFi code number (like the kind at the coffee shops) when you board, if you want to use the WiFi ?
