I don't know much about the Cummins VTB-903 engine. It seems that there also existed a VT-903. I have only seen the VTB-903 be used in Flyer D900 buses. Does anyone have more info?

MARTA's 1978 Grummans numbered 3001-3005 (which were the first production Grummans ever built) also used the Cummins VTB-903. SCRTD's Neoplan Skyliners also used the Cummins VTB-903 with an Allison HT-740 transmission.

Hmm, do you know when the VTB-903 was discontinued?

Do you know when it was first introduced?

Around 1978... that was the engine used in the first few Grumman 870s built for MARTA (3001 to 3005).

The Cummins V-903, which is the non turbo version was introduced in the late 1960s I think. SCRTD had it's 7100 series Flxibles that used those engines with a Spicer automatic transmission.

1969 from official Cummins literature. Yes, the SCRTD 7100s did use that engine. Here is 7103 in action:

Awesome, 1969. Flxibles also had the Cummins 165-285 as option prior to the 903.

Very cool! Do you know the first Cummins engine made (the model)? (Sorry for asking so many questions!)

I just found out yesterday that SF Muni's 1969 Flxible New Looks had Cummins V903 engines.
