ETS Electric Bus testing

Rode #2 on the route 4 this AM, and shot #1 on the 100.

Having heard about the poor top end of these buses, and #1 in particular, downloaded a GPS based speedometer app for the trip on Whitemud.

Probably not as accurate as the speedo on the bus, but it gives a decent idea.

Downgrade in the Fox Drive bus lane we hit 81 km/h. Through the flatter sections at the bottom of the grade, and on the Quesnell Bridge we managed 75 km/h, but on the upgrade north of the Quesnell we maxed out, barely, at 66 km/h and that was as we levelled out. Speed limit is 80 km/h through this area with traffic usually doing 90.

Patience. If, as an example, they turn up on an 8 you could well have a 3 hour wait if you're at the end of a route! And if they're only doing peak hours still it could be one trip and that's it.

According to an article in the St. Albert Gazette this past week, one of the BYD's will be coming to St. Albert for a month in August so that StAT can test it out.
