I never thought I would see this airline or aircraft type again. Antonov Design Bureau - Antonov 124 UR-82027 came to YYC on Wednesday afternoon and departed early Friday morning for Anchorage.

UR-82027 departed YYC late Thursday night (10:29PM) and it was going to YYR (CFB Goose Bay).

Canadian North has been operating "Rescue Flights" for WestJet Airlines between Calgary and Toronto. They've been operating as 5T4354/5T4355 using Canadian North aircraft and Pilots. The irony of all that is they've been using 737-700s which were previously operated by WestJet.

This was unexpected and I didn't know what this was till it passed by me while on the ramp. I assumed at first it was an Air North ATR42. It turned out to be FireFly - ATR72 is seen taxiing at the airport on July 2. After some research, it came in near South Indian Lake in Manitoba (Assuming either Thompson or Churchill) for a fuel stop before heading off to Spokane and continuing onwards. This was very likely a lease return. Former registration is 9M-FYB. That is quite the trip from Malaysia to the USA in an ATR 72!

American Airlines - Boeing 737-800 in the OneWorld Livery before departing for Dallas-Fort Worth early Friday Morning.Screenshot_20220715-145410_Gallery.thumb.jpg.37316558125e0f8f8caf822073c708a8.jpg

Not a rare visitor to YYC but rare for it to be at the main terminal. Summit Air - Avro RJ85 at Gate 12 before departing for Kelowna. I heard Lynx Air leased this plane for a few flights but not sure if this was one of the flights. The ground crew kindly gave me a tour of this plane as everyone who was loading it is a aviation enthusiast themselves! I got a private tour of this aircraft back in 2018 so it was nostalgic to be up to close to this bird again.

Something from a few weeks ago. "Swoopster" - Boeing 737 Max 8 at West Pad 124 before being towed to Gate 11 later that day for Toronto. I was expecting the interior of the plane to be more pink but it wasn't except for the logo and parts of the galley. Not taken up by Norwegian Airlines and likely the first visit for a Swoop Max 8 to YYC.

This has got to be the catch of the year for me. FedEx will be bringing MD-10s/MD-11 trijets to YYC until the end of the year. I don't exactly know the frequency of them but I am assuming every Sunday as FDX240. FedEx is retiring the MD-10s by 2023 so it's amazing to see these aircraft one last time. This one was N304FE - a DC-10 built in 1978.

I've been wanting to see this aircraft before it gets retired, I'm glad I got the opportunity to see it at YYC as its scheduled for retirement on December 31st, 2022 along with the other remaining Fedex MD-10s. N306FE, this plane was involved in an attempted hijacking/take over as "FedEx Flight 705" back in 1994. The story and events are absolutely incredible where the injured crew were able to overpower the hijacker and land the plane safely. Everyone survived.

Not the best photos by any means. Photos were taken after sunset and heavy fog.
