With the evacuation order being lifted for communities along Highway 97 (including Williams Lake), full service will resume tomorrow between Vancouver/Kamloops and Prince George.

Service resumes for now....but could be suspended at anytime due to the Fire situation and with Williams Lake and other areas still being on Evacuation alert...alot could happen in the days and weeks ahead.

Clinton,BC was just evacuated this evening and Hwy 97 is Closed Again ...So not surprising...!  Service will be cutoff again !! Unless the buses take Hwy 24 at 100 Mile house to get to kamloops.

Good question....But I hear Sask crown investments has several decent coaches for sale and trailers too...lol

The greyhounds referbs are starting to fall apart , and when compared to other coach companies they really are not the best fleet wise

Been noticing for the past month or so alot of Greyhound overloads from Toronto on the Southern Ontario routes from Kunkel, Badder and Cherrey. Also notice that Greyhound is doing alot more charter/site seeing work in Niagara and other places. Wondering why if Greyhound is running extra sections or they very short buses due to retirements for them having to get charter company overloads before the busy season.

I passed bye to yard today in Toronto and there was a lot of equipment sitting around.

One or two blue coaches in the bone yard...are they retired?

There was a GO unit in the yard also. Anyone know if GO transit is renting space there?

GO has leased a handful (4-6?) of spaces in Greyhound's Toronto yard for long-term parking for a few years now. There are only 7 layover spaces in the terminal (and 2 on the north side of the barrier), and it's nowhere near enough to store all the buses taking extended layovers. So basically most buses with at least 45 minutes between arrival/departure at Union Station Bus Terminal are scheduled to deadhead to the Greyhound yard and use the layover spots there. Previous to leasing from Greyhound, GO had an arrangement with a parking lot down on Cherry Street - IIRC it was the go kart lot by Polson Street, but it proved problematic in the summer months when the owner needed the parking spaces for their (paying) customers.

Before GO had dedicated layover spots, buses would park anywhere in the south end of downtown - Freeland and Cooper Streets were particularly popular, and you could see 1-3 buses on the side of those streets almost anytime of the day. Sometimes buses would use the curb lanes of Bay or Lake Shore as well, and some longer layovers ventured down to side streets in the Port Lands. Basically centralizing the layover spots is more professional, and prevents traffic congestion from buses blocking lanes (and getting tickets for being illegally parked).
