That thing would have been brand new!

Yup.  The photo was taken on George Street in front of where the CFRA/CTV building is now.

OC Transpo didn't have a TBT tweet this week, so I made one of my own. B)

Bus 8712 was a 1978 Flyer D800B, and is shown at Lebreton Station operating on route 42 Gloucester North/Nord in 1990.  Route 42 was an express route created in 1984 to replace part of express route 26, serving Blackburn Hamlet, Navan Road and southern Orleans and connecting with the Transitway at Hurdman Station via Innes Road and Industrial Avenue.  The communities had been served by route 26 since 1975.  The route was cancelled in 1991 and replaced by express route 28, which served the same communities but connected with the Transitway at Blair Station via Innes and Blair Roads.

Another Lost Ottawa find.

That's not too different from the 1960 version of route 52 in the wiki:

Ottawa_Transportation_Commission_route_5

The thing is, route 52 was still this long in the mid-1980s when it became route 16, and it wasn't significantly changed until 1989, when the east end of the route was changed to Sandy Hill.

Somebody on the Ottawa Reddit Subgroup posted a photo of what looks like a newly delivered Orion III articulated bus.  The paint job is certainly different from what was normally used when they were in service.

That was the Orion/Ikarus demo which eventually became St. Catharines Transit 8441.  Here's a photo of the same bus in Windsor (photo by Bob Hussey):

This is what a brand new OC Transpo Orion/Ikarus bus looked like:

The new trolleybus book Tires and Wires is due out next month. There'll be a section on Ottawa's trolleybuses for sure - the smallest and shortest-lived system in Canada, 10 vehicles, not sure the mileage, 7½ years. Half the vehicles were sold to Toronto, the other half to Kitchener.

I wrote a firsthand account of Winnipeg's last run in 1970 for that book.

Here are some old photos from the City of Ottawa website, specifically from this link https://ottawa.ca/en/residents/transportation-and-parking/traffic/transit-priority. Original photographer unknown.

I would assume that the photos were taken in the mid 90s. That 1991 Orion V doesn't come with a black railway sticker decal either, so there's a clue.

Picture n° 1 : Green Ford Windstar (1995-) following a red Toyota Corolla E100 (1993-) in the left lane.

Picture n° 2 : White Plymouth Neon (1995-) followed by a white Chrysler LHS/New Yorker (1994-) in the right lane. I think I see a burgundy Sportage (1998-) in the left lane, in front of the truck, though that's not clear (and not very plausible, as that would put a good share of 10 y.o. cars in the traffic).

The mid-90's is a good guess.

It's curious that they painted CTCUQ letters on it, whereas the name changed in '94 to STCUQ.

Is just me  or do all or lest all Quebec agencies have very similar paint schemes(the blue)

Are you referring to the green+grey/navy+grey/orange+grey scheme of the RTC? Or the teal+gold scheme of the STSherbrooke? Or the red and white scheme of the RTL and STTR? Maybe the black/grey/ white scheme of CTJM?

Apart from the STO/STLévis/STLaval and STSaguenay/Transcollines schemes that I would not differentiate in the dark, there is a good diversity of color schemes throughout the different agencies.

Whoa!

now THAT’S REALLY WEIRD! I know the sto had some ex-Québec Classics for a while and kept the stcuq scheme but to see an Sto fishbowl with the ctcuq feels all wrong.
