O-Train Line 1 | The Confederation Line

Recommended Posts

Tbh the R1 would work far better if it were to be run on a headway system vs schedule. Far too often is the R1 schedule padded to the point where buses need to either leave late from tunneys/Blair or they sit and wait at stops which defeats the purpose of an efficient replacement.

Lees WB and cyrville should be a shuttle run from Blair-Cyrville-hurdman-lees and back with proper signage on the buses.

nightly closures from 20:00 to EOS will really screw a lot of passengers over making last buses

How coincidental the dates of full closure of Line 1 happened to coincide with the 417 closure... Granted after 8 PM, but still, rather annoying getting home.

Especially how there are a lot of bus cancellations still occurring and seeing the schedule of R1, it is planned to operate every 7 to 8 minutes until 10:50 PM. From 10:50 PM until the final train trip of the day, it is every 10 minutes. First trips are staggered between stations instead of starting only from the terminus stations (Blair and Tunney's).

Total running time is around 58 minutes and servicing every station or adjacent including Lees and Cyrville.

That is going to put a lot of pressure on resources especially seeing in the past how select trips were cancelled to provide R1 bus replacement service.

Add to that lazy scheduling, it certainly does not take 58 minutes after rush hour to run an R1, expect many buses to be running hot or sitting at time-points

So regarding washrooms on the LRT, while better than the 0 the BRT offered, but WHY did they not have bathrooms at all LRT stations? Is this more acceptable than the possibility of someone doing drugs in the stall (Reddit post below)? Most places are closed by 9 so there are often no alternatives and if I'm not going to a main transfer point, im not gonna stop at a station that has a bathroom, just to get back on the train to head to my destination.I have no context for the below post, but if you ask me, for being a "world class transit system" and yet only 4 stations out of 50 LRT/BRT have facilities, is just disgraceful. Then again, this is the same people who have open air stations and no water fountain at Tunney's Pasture.... but hey, they have a still closed HGC at Tunney's where you can buy water for $4 a bottle if they ever open 🤣

Is that why the station smells so bad? Lol

Did they ever decide to fix that?

I'm not sure if it all stations or not but I notice Hurdman, Lees & UOttawa stations the seating on the platform was taped off with caution tape? As to why I'm not sure.

They are being repainted. (Including the steel pillars )

The one bench on the EB platform at Hurdman was getting pretty bad (rust)

Several updates on the Stage 2 LRT Construction progress:

Demolition work is to have commenced on Monday (as per this newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/00e4368dbd1d/ward-15-lookahead-westboro-1083273?e=0dfa4f5b21).

Please note that when I passed by there yesterday, the old bus station shelters at the Transitway level were still intact.

Tracks have been delivered and are being stored on the section between Bayshore and Moodie (as per this Instagram post by the Stage 2 LRT Office: https://www.instagram.com/p/CjTZbtvgLt1/),

In the O-Train East Extension Project, contractors have started to lay tracks and rail ties just east of Blair Station heading east towards the flyover bridge.

The tracks are visible when you are onboard a bus going westbound to Blair Station when travelling on the RR174/Blair Road off-ramp (specifically on the overpass crossing over the LRT Guidway/former East Transitway)

I agree, same for Hurdman, Train/Trembly.

The thing is when we had the BRT the station where properly heat(to some extent) grant you they weren't nice and hot, but at least warm enough that it was better the non heated shelters and freezing. Now at Hurdman there bus shelters are not hearted, grant you out of the wind or other elements but there still freezing in the winter as before at Hurdman you had some heat, not toasty & warm, but at least it was some what comfortable. And as for the "heated area" in the LRT at Hurdman  what a joke that is.
