O-Train Line 1 | The Confederation Line

  • 3 weeks later...

According to a Reddit user (who I believe works for RTM, based on their comment history) 1147 entered regular service for the first time today.

They also mentioned that 1153 will enter service within the next couple of weeks.

This observation is only visible while on a double decker bus on the upper level:

Along the Confederation Line East segment of the Stage 2 LRT Project: Tracks and rail ties are being installed along LRT guideway on RR174 between west of Jeanne d'Arc Blvd and east of the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway overpass.

It starts flashing 10 seconds before the doors begin closing. Always been that way.

Well it's changed. It starts flashing a few seconds before the train even stops at the station.

There is a Councillor-led Information Session (via Zoom) that will be held tomorrow night (April 20, 2022) between 7pm and 8:30pm regarding the Confederation Line East Extension between Blair and Trim, going through Orleans.

Key staff will be doing the presentation.

Copy and paste from the same article I posted in the Trillium Line thread, but for Confederation Line details.

No delays for the eastern extension (Blair to Trim Park and Ride). That is scheduled for November 2024.

Western extension, the builder has identified a 3 month possible delay. The work is more complicated due to the underground tunnel that is required. Next schedule update is in July and the scheduled plan is to open by May 2025.

Seven vehicles from the expansion order are currently in revenue service. 1 is in the process of being accepted after completing testing while 1 other unit is still going through testing along the line. 15 in final production while 14 are still in production with Alstom.

All expansion units expected to be delivered by the end of 2023.

A YouTuber ('Ottawa Freelance Photograph'), with a drone, videotaped the demolition work from last weekend -- video is over 12 minutes long (not a timelapse)

Transit Commissioner Sarah Wright-Gilbert has tweeted out planned O-Trian Line closure

Information via memo was (likely) e-mailed to City Council and Transit Commissioners, and the Transit Commissioner made that info public.

Why nor start on a Friday night till late Sunday instead of a Sunday till Tuesday?

The line is open later on Friday and Saturday nights compared to every other day. The line closes earlier on Sunday anyway, so this minimizes the amount of service that is disrupted.
