BCT-3122-D800-10240
As seen in this post: http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=52&view=findpost&p=578023 , #'s 8181 and up have began to arrive. If the order is 20 units as previously mentioned, this order should be numbered 8181-8200. Quite a few changes mainly on the interior as well as the lack of rear window Here are a few images of 8183 -- enjoy!
D40LF
That Illuminator sign looks simple, hope they will put some decals on so that we know what the buttons are for!
1604
That Illuminator sign looks simple, hope they will put some decals on so that we know what the buttons are for! All the buttons are labelled on screen. Interestingly, the side destination sign is about a third narrower than previous orders. The interior of these buses are lit with LED lighting! Very cool looking. They also feel a lot more open and spacious with the electronics previously above the driver side wheel well now located above in a panel below the ceiling - and consequently the seat behind the driver is a lot nicer to sit in too. The asymmetrical interior ad racks are neat too.

vicinity
It's one less thing to worry about, it's easier to advertise I guess that's why we like no window.....
Newflyer3
Here's another observation. On the Luminator panel they have has a "bump" on the 5 for the visual impaired... Now when is someone visually impaired going to drive the bus or use it?

Now when is someone visually impaired going to drive the bus or use it? It's not really for the visually impaired if you think about it. It is to help the driver change the sign without physically looking at it. The bump tells the driver that is where the 5 is, subsequently that allows them to feel where the other buttons are. BCT-3122-D800-10240
Also, are these the first LFSes with LED headlights? I don't believe so... I thought Strathcona's newest batch came with them, no? Or were those retrofits?
D40LF
Is the seat behind the driver still there, looks like that area is different.
Newflyer3
I think the partition is now thinner. It looks like it can't hold those pocket route guides anymore

See this post: http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=15367&view=findpost&p=578075 Does transit have something against a rear window? lol What kind of a question is that!? It's one less thing to worry about, it's easier to advertise I guess that's why we like no window..... That's not the reason behind not having a rear window on the NFI's however... Here are a couple of photos of #8181 which were also captured yesterday when 8183 was photographed: 281112-02627ct8181 by busdrawings, on Flickr 281112-02625ct8181 by busdrawings, on Flickr

Transit Fan
Do all Novabus' have those four seats that face backwards in the back area or is it just a Calgary Transit configuration? I've always found sitting in those seats a bit awkward (especially when it's busy and you're staring at the people sitting in front of you in the back rows ). Now that the rear window is gone, you can't even look out through the window either.

I think it's factory standard.
Jon Calon
I think it's a really ingenious way to hide the rear wheel hump... Also provides for "meeting space" for friends wanting to chat with each other. Granted, don't know how often that happens.... :-) Jon

D40LF
CT doesn't use 00 when its a new series, so lets say they get a new type of bus that are to be numbered in the 8300's, the first bus will be 8301. If they get 100 of those new buses then it will be 8301-8400. This is what has now happened with the Nova's.
Gsgeek540
Nice ! I hope we get more then 20 ! Is anything going to be moved from Sg to other garages? If service design has any merit, it is not as much moving out of spring gardens for the novas as it is moving out of victoria park for the 30 new arbocs. They did, however, confirm that "the worst of the worst" gmcs, mcis (from ag and sg), and 93 flyers would be sacrificed to make room for them...eventually. They currently have about 40 buses a night on the fence at spring until the morning as it is.
