My bets are on door #3 since Byford left.
Nothing get saved, and the ridiculous charter fee increases ensure that none of the historic fleet moves again….therefore making a bad faith justification to dispose of all of them.

It's funny that.  According to the TTC August 2010 report, it's says two 1983s GM buses are being kept.  2345 and 2444 are 1983s.  While 2252 is 1982 and 8058 is 1975.  Since 2252 is an 1982 and is restored.  I wouldn't be surprised if 2345 and 2444 are preserved buses than 8058.

When I saw 2444 a few years ago it was stripped of almost everything. 2345 was also stripped.

@TTCNLFBT

Have a look at the current streetcar charter rates and tell me you still think I’m funny.

I can tell you the “special quote” for the PCC and CLRV entails paying for a dedicated supervisor and maintenance truck chasing, in addition to the LFLRV rate, and that’s not even considering the refusal to equip any of the historic cars with pantographs.

Without those, they’ll be condemned to static display only in 3-4 years at best.

It would be cool if the TTC moves GM New Look 2252 to Birchmount division.  Why?  Because back then, 8752 was based there when she was brand new.

No, it's slated to go to Queensway for service on 50 BURNHAMTHORPE.

Only 1 bus? I'm surprised I would of thought they'd have more then that? Like perhaps 3 or 4 different type of buses?

Come to Etobicoke, we have an entire Museum Division (according to some posters here).

The TTC charter price escalation has been legendary for at least 10 years now so it shouldn't be news to anyone except new people.

The problems with the historic fleet unfortunately run a bit more extensive than the refusal to put pantographs on them.  4500 has been sidelined for a couple of years even before the pandemic started because the wheels need to be replaced.  The treads are thin enough that they got condemned, apparently.  This one I actually believe; if you look at charter pictures from 25+ years ago, you can see how thin the wheels were in the late 1990s and add in what use it had before the TTC skyrocketed charter prices which caused use to drop off a cliff.  2766 was always very infrequently chartered because of the requirement to have an extra car on either side.  This was hung on a report written by Ray Corley and the justification was no track brakes.  Merited or not, this policy priced 2766 so high that Peter Witt charters were very rare when they were possible and it hasn't even been listed as available on the TTC charter page in four or five years, maybe more.

The fact that a CLRV or PCC is a "request quote" item basically means it's now in the category of if you have to ask, you can't afford it.  So yes, the TTC has been told to keep a historic fleet, it isn't usable or accessibly priced anymore.  Malicious compliance is still compliance.  With Rick Leary here, they're going to become the equivalent of 3295 and the Type 5 except you can at least see those from one of the platforms at Boylston unlike here where they're stored out of sight.

Sorry it's already been to Queensway before.  When it had the 2019 Toronto Raptors Championship wrap.

Getting it there from the east end was the best assignment I ever had.

Bringing 7072 off the island the back way via Billy Bishop airfield is a close second.

I guess you took her on the highway, right?

Only to the bottom of the dvp. Then lakeshore to Spadina until I finally made the connection that lakeshore was closed by the ex for precisely the parade I was trying to stage this thing for, so west from king to Roncesvalles, Queensway west from there.
Nobody was watching the clock on a Sunday, I was having a ball with all the waves and thumbs up.

As long as I got it there without a scratch with enough time to arrive back at malvern for the end of my shift, everyone was happy.
Mission was accomplished.

Awesome!  During the June 2019 private charter that I attended, there were lots of people honking horns going by.  At one point a TTC operator from the route 90 Vaughan uses her I-pad to take a photo of 2252 going by.  She was outside the bus.

My memory is a bit fuzzy but is that the charter where we took it near the airport ?

Does anyone know when the last time 4500 saw public use was? I last photo'ed it in the 2017 Beaches Easter parade.

The depths to which the historic fleet has sunk is truly depressing.

I believe in the Summer of 2017.  I have photos of 4500 along with 2766, 4032 & 4042 (escort car) on the 509 on Canada Day.  Sometime in the mid to end of August 2017 it was swap to 4549 on the 509.  Since then TTC stopped putting PCC's on that route.

2017 sounds about right.

I don't think we're going to see PCCs back on the Harbourfront, at least not this year for sure.  Remember they stopped it and Brad Ross said something to the effect that it wasn't because they couldn't, but they needed to concentrate on keeping the CLRVs running with the pandemic happening right after keeping the CLRVs running became a non-issue.  Now it's the overhead wire and lack of pantographs.  One of the justifications the TTC had for the insane charter rates was that the public didn't need to charter the PCC, they could go ride it down on the Harbourfront except even that got taken away without any return in sight.

It’s a good barometer of general morale in the place.

When I think of 3295, like I said in the previous post, this is what I comes to mind from the same place Leary is from:

PCC 3295

Somewhere between Yonge and Bathurst, I realized I was on the TTC’s 3295 which actually probably can be chartered despite Leary, not that it’s particularly interesting.

When was it?I wonder if there are any potential opportunity for 2252 to be on tour in the future?

September 2019.  Hopefully the TTC does a tour at the new McNicoll Garage for the United Way in the coming September 2022.  As for restoring 2345 and 2444, I changed my mind.

That was for Leslie/Greenwood, the recent tours before the pandemic hit.

Speaking of restoration, what happened with #8058 as of late? It seemed the project has been stalled for two years now.
