GRT New Flyer Xcelsiors

Just wait till you get to drive one someday. all round disc brakes, Smooth steering, Fast acceleration, Amazing and powerful heat/AC, Bus kneels lower to the ground then previous models, Lots of leg room, Blind spots are to a minimum, Head lights and turn signals are bright. Big improvements over the D40LF and LFR models.

Personally speaking, I've herd 99.9% positive remarks from operators who work for Kingston, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Durham Region.

I drive NFI's daily.... Hopefully the steering has improved. Even our newest ones from 2008 have crappy loose steering. I was impressed with the visibility on an Xcelsior demo that I got to check out in Victoria back in 2010.

My internet plug-ins have a tendency to crash with large Adobe files. Along with my little sister who begged me to play Monopoly with her, I had to leave my post into just that question.

It'd be interesting to see that articulated bus in GRT colors. Thats for sure!

Thanks to both of you (BCT and TWCS). Very fun to hear the driver's perspective!

If GRT is happy with the ZF, they'll stick to it!

But the B400R is the most economical, considering that most organizations either use Voith or Allison. You don't hear as much about ZF.

Question... Doesn't the Xcelsior model come with the option of having a built in Stop Announcement system installed? There is a blue screen on the left hand side at the front in all of the videos that I have seen...

As Transit 5, says, they'll install INIT specifically. The replacement buses will just get the hardware moved from the old bus, and new hardware will be ordered for the expansion buses.

Do you have a link? I want to compare it with Winnipegs ASA, since this post made ours sound very familiar... blue screen with multiple font abilities, that show the time, stop name, and "Stop Requested" sign.

I don't like the ZUM/BT XDE40/XD40 HVAC design because you can only mount the AA sign behind the driver's panel.

The ZUM Artics corrected this problem by using the MiLocal XD40 and EPA2010 D40LFR style vent. I think this vent is superior as it allows for the central mounted AA.
