D40LF
Yikes. well, MTHA has vinyl-wrapped an Orion. A future preservation group (public or private), could wrap another better-shaped CT New Look in two-tone blue eventually. If they can afford the engines, repairs, maintenance and other stuff, that is. Might not be the original, but it'd please me if I were to see it Be prepared to never be pleased then! Knowing people how have saved New Looks it does cost a lot of money to repair a bus. I had a chance to buy a bus several years ago, but in the end I had to look at various costs and those made it prohibitive.
Bus_Medic
Buses are money pits. You'd better buy it with the intention of converting it to a motorhome, 'cause you need to sell your house to keep it operational.

Actually what I would do is get a low floor, maybe one of the 1993 D40LF's, and convert it into a motor home. Sunlight hatches, bedroom at the rear section, dining area at the rear doors so that you can flick the power switch and eat your breakfast with fresh air, etc. Nevermind selling the house, think you would need to win the lottery! Tom1122
The TRHA had a fundraiser to purchase LRC locomotive #6917 from VIA a couple years ago and it was successful. Maybe people could fundraise to purchase 1046 from Calgary Transit.
Bus_Medic
Then what? It slowly decomposes in some out of the way industrial parking lot. Just like all the others. If any legitimate museum had the room and wished to aquire it, they would've expressed their intentions by now. In any event, why don't YOU get off your ass and organize said fundraiser, instead of pining and pontificating, as usual. In these days of teh internets, geography means little, if anything at all. Win the lottery, and I can chuck in a few U2's, 7001 and a bunch of 7500s As for me, I'd donate but my organization skills are bad. That and I'm pretty sure Calgary has indoor storage somewhere (private-owned or public)

tardebigge
I see one of the original fishbowls (570) is still sitting south of Nanton. Has had no conversion work done on it, so it is still in the same condition as when retired. Some time ago (at least 18 months), it was reported it was going to be restored, but I've heard/seen nothing more about that.
