JeremyA
Hello all. I recently moved to Sherbrooke, and plan to bring you some photos of local buses and fill in the STS page on our wiki. In the meantime, I found it interesting that STS continues to use tokens as their fare media: I think the one on the right is actually upside down, as it should read "CMTS" which stands for either "Corporation municipale de Sherbrooke" (1978-1985) or "Corporation métropolitaine de transport de Sherbrooke" (1985-2001). I have not yet come across a token that says "STS" on it, so either all the tokens are over 10 years old or they haven't bothered to update their press. The buses have OPUS-like machines installed on them, but they continue to use traditional bus passes (which are simply shown to the driver as you board) and the OPUS machines only accept coins or tokens. 2044
So I was working on the STS wiki today and noticed the cutaways and intermédiaires belong to a contractor Les Promenades de l'Estrie. Which STS routes are contracted out?

tomsbuspage
BUMP! It looks as if Saguenay, Sherbrooke and Trois-Rivières will be adopting the Multi card based on the technology developed by the STO. Sherbrooke's card will be called la Vermeilleuse: https://www.sts.qc.ca/affichage.php?id=

webfil
STS seems to have problems with La Vermeilleuse, its RF fare card system. Some cards inexplicably expire and update delays due to line change are too long according to drivers. I don't know if STO and STTR experienced the same, but La Vermeilleuse seems to be a bit of a headache to implement in the Eastern Townships. https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1150589/la-vermeilleuse-loin-detre-merveilleuse-selon-les-chauffeurs-de-la-sts

Can you also put 50105 & 52101 back as active? They have indeed been put back into service as @TheTransitBusFan has mentioned above.

anyfong
Is La Vermeilleuse a stored-value card like Presto, or can it only load 4 tickets/passes like Opus?

It's a Multi card based on the STO system, so it can carry both passes and an e-purse. However, I do not know whether it will work in Gatineau, Trois-Rivières or Saguenay, which use the same technology, or on OC Transpo like the STO Multi card.

Would you also like to comment on the eventual closing of Station du Dépôt? Yes tokens/jetons are still available and station du depot is closing due to problems with cars and limocar buses being parked any where they want. And is turning back to a 1 way street like in the old days because of the downtown upgrading from a very sketchy part of town to where less poor and etc On 3/10/2019 at 9:47 PM, anyfong said: Is La Vermeilleuse a stored-value card like Presto, or can it only load 4 tickets/passes like Opus? La vermeilleuse you can put as much money as you want on it if you want and when scanned give an automatic transfers on the card . With this method you can also pay for a friend all you do is tell the driver and the driver pushes the (multi/multiple).you can also have the U. DE S. student card. And certain high schools as well. There is the monthly pass as well for around 60$
