BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted July 25, 2012 Report Share Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Was looking through the Prevost Wiki pages and discovered that only 10 of the 35 foot Prevost Champion model TS-41/CTS-41 were built and all were built for the Canadian Forces. I just wanted to verify that this is in fact true. With that, I would guess that the coach in this image: http://www.busfanplace.com/view.php?pict=alma7208.jpg is an ex-Forces unit... Does anyone have more info on these? It was built for Canadian National Transportation as #8 in NFLD. Returned to Prevost who then sold it to Alma as #7208, then it went to Murray Hill Limousine Service as #6822. Thanks for the info, Bernie. Prevost sure made some interesting coaches back in the 1970's. Attached are a couple of shots of Alma 72-08, taken in Montreal in July of 1980. I have also attached a shot of another odd model by Prevost. I believe this is also an I-41 but is a three axle version. Three axles on a 35' coach sure looks strange. Thousand Island Bus Lines 81 is taken at the Montreal bus depot in July 1981. This bus is most likely ex-Murray Hill, based on the paint scheme. Bernie Posted July 27, 2012 Report Share Posted July 27, 2012 Kevin : Thousand Island Bus Lines #81 was orig. new to CN Roadcruiser Service #4, then to Murray Hill as #811. CN Roadcruiser Service started with 12 Prevost I-41 , numbered 1 - 12 and where built with only one rear axle. But because of weight restrictions imposed by the province of Newfoundland the I-41's were returned to Prevost and a tag axle was added to them. That is why Prevost has some odd looking coaches. Nice shot of that white Unijoy tours H3-41, it looks good for its age. I'm looking for help identifying the original owner of this bus, it is a 1992 H3-40 powered with an 8V92TA and an Allison HT-740. Attached is an image of what i can see are it's old colours. I should note that the cladding on the lower panels is black, although unsure if it was like this before or was painted this way during its repaint. Those were the older Panoramique model, roughly Prévost's answer to the MC-5 and PD4106. The giveaway is the low flat roof and single rear axle. The Champion was slightly longer, with a stepped roof and dual rear axle; it was Prevost's first export model in 1967, roughly their answer to the MC-7 which actually came out a year later. This picture is one of 12 Champions that the Commission (later Société) de transport de Laval got in 1975. Photo Bob Hussey via Martin Cirino Collection. These were used on a Montreal - Laval (several stops) - Rosemère - Ste. Thérèse - Mirabel service from 1975-1982, and possibly other regional routes as well. The idea was to serve those areas closer to Mirabel that Montreal's MUCTC didn't serve. Saw it a few weeks ago. Seems they did it relatively cheap. Always wondered what one would put in the accordion section but they make it work.
