New Flyer D40LF Retirement / Storage watch

Looking at the TCOMM site, it looks like all the D40LF, C40LF, and D60LFs are either not in service or scrapped 😯

That means that BC Transit is the only one operating D40LFs in BC (and plenty of them)

There’s a few D40LFs that are still active and at least 14 used for training. At least 1 was on a tripper this morning. The C40LFs have been gone for a long time now, and the D60LFs have been gone for a few months.

There will probably still be a PM tripper today.

The are still about half a dozen D40lfs in regular service. All the C40lfs and the D60lfs are retired.

I don't know where you got half a dozen from as theirs only 3 that's actively in service.

If you count the ones that haven't been in service for over a month then Half a dozen if not its 4 7426, 7436, 7443, 7445

Does 7417 and 7438 count?

I updated the wiki the other day and whatever hasn't seen service in sometime I listed it as unknown status. It's up in the air whether those units are still around , scrapped up into pop cans or with the training fleet.

The C40LFs stayed on the road for way too long imo

I think it's safe to assume that all D40LFs other than 7426/38/43/45 are retired. Just waiting on confirmation.

They've been on all day blocks last week. It's not special.

That was one of the four active D40LFs that I mentioned earlier. From what I read, 7438 is a VTC spare. I was talking about the Detroit powered D40LFs and the ones that have not seen any service since September/October.

Ohh sorry, totally misread what you wrote. Thought you meant all D40LFs were retired.

7274, 7280, 7328, 7340, 7373, 7389 all confirmed retired

7375, 7409, 7432 all "in storage"

7408, 7417, 7426, 7438, 7443, 7445 all in service, (apparently for 7408 and 7417)

Thank you. Ah yes the elusive two. What about 7434?

I e-mailed TransLink about the retired buses, I asked about 7434 as well but they didn't include it in their e-mail back.

Isn't 7375 a training bus? Still was on Monday.

I guess storage means training, or not scrapped, but not in revenue service.

Drove by RTC today and couldn't see 7112 anywhere from Steveston Hwy. Only a few Orions remained in the dead tracks where it was parked. Could have been moved (within RTC or to another TC); otherwise removed.

7112 was present today at Jack Poole Plaza for the 10th year anniversary of the 2010 Olympics.
