ghYHZ
Air Bras d’Or.......remember them? A small airline, flying DHC-6 Twin Otters that had the Maritimes pretty well covered in the mid ‘80s. Believe they only lasted about a year. Here’s C-GDMP at YPS (Port Hawkesbury) in December 1986.
stage driver
Yes, this guy from SW Ontario remembers the carrier. Of course, aviation in many areas was one of the two more intriguing interests I had at the time. Interesting way of publishing their schedule and fares. Kind of reminds me of the comedy show based on a small New England airline which show's name escapes me at the moment. I'd suggest someone behind Air Bras D'or had a dream of their own and tried to make it work. As a teen, I had a similar dream and wanted to own an airline. Guess that why I remember things like this and who the players were behind many airlines of the time. Some of those players are still quite successful operators today or had airlines that grew into something else or became a major component of the larger services of today. Best I did to become an owner was to buy PWA shares. That was an airline that never had a financial loss until I purchased shares. Hope I wasn't responsible for their demise. Okay, who remembers the Air Transit STOL operation between Ottawa Rockcliffe and Montreal or even City Airlines between Toronto Island and Ottawa/Montreal and Hamilton. Not a success but now think about Porter and who is backing Porter with ties to Ontario aviation for many generations from a northern Ontario town which used to run a Hawker Siddeley from YYZ to Timmins. Ok, that info should give it all away now.
