DART First State: Delaware Area Regional Transit

DART operates buses throughout the state of Delaware similar to how New Jersey Transit operates in NJ. The New Castle County lines are generally numbered lower than 100, with long distance lines being in the 300 Series. Routes that serve Southern Delaware are generally in the 200 series. DART also shares funds portions of SEPTAs Wilmington/Newark Line which serves Wilmington and Newark DE. Unlike New Jersey Transit, DART does not own any rail vehicles or rail lines.

The Fleet:

Gillig Low Floors (come in 40 and 30 foot versions)

As I understand DART's presentation format are as follows:

Routes 001-099 are New Castle County

Routes 100-199 are Kent County

Routes 200-299 are Sussex County

Routes 300-399 are Intercounty

DART owns several SEPTA Silverliner V cars now, however the entire Wilmington/Newark Line is contracted to SEPTA to operate. Also, the Northeast Corridor rail within the State is administered (not owned) by DART/DelDOT. They also own some spur line to the south.

Mid-late last year DART got some new 40 foot gilligs (#s starting 4XX) and a whole whack of paratransit cutaway vehicles (#s starting 14XX) .....

Also with the redesign, unveiled a new corporate logo/livery. They are also testing out flex route service in Sussex county with route #s 9XX.

NABI high floors are retired. NABI low floors are being phased out upon reaching 12 years old
