armorand
Hey guys, DavidW said 320 has been sent to the scrapper earlier this month. Today, while walking past FRG, I managed to spot (and luckily, photograph without someone from Winnipeg Transit asking me why my 18 year old self is taking photos of buses) 324 laying around, missing various parts and what appears to be a deliberately smashed windshield. To clarify, I was on the outside of the Eastern fence when taking these, and thanks to my iPhone 4, the lens was small enough to not get the chainkink fence in the shot! Pictures: Note the rightside windshield with the golfball sized hit, possible missing side destination rollsign and an open panel. Missing licence plate too. Note the missing hubcap, some break/turn lights and someone writing "My last ride!" with a smiley under it Since I happen to not be in Winnipeg Transit, I have no idea whats on the other side of that bus. Maybe one of you guys can look and see. Maybe 601-640 will clear those Classics and 800s after all
OC Transpo 8238
I've found shell casings in OC Transpo buses awaiting scrap... never know whats in/on them.

armorand
Sorry, but what does FRG stand for? Thanks! Sorry about that, I learned from the guys here to start calling it FRG and it got stuck since. I'm heading out that way again today. I'll see if theres anything new in that same parked spot, or if the same Classic is slowly being cannabalized for spare parts, either way.
armorand
Walked by FRGarage again, 324 lost its rollsigns (front, side, back), although it left the numerical side one, which appeared to say Route 11 as its last run ever. Also, the advertisement thingys were taken down and stacked upon the chairs. Nothing else that I can see, has been changed though...

armorand
Rode 329 (Route 38) from the Forks today. While I'm preparing the video I took, have fun with these two pictures!
armorand
301 still going, Route 24 this afternoon. http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=10296&st=340&p=571416entry571416
Ramirez
Heard your recording a while ago from bus #329, what a nice engine
armorand
First off, its about time you visit my home thread! Secondly, theres not many left, so that might be one of the last recordings I'll ever get of one in action. 301 randomly came from the distance and I didnt have my Canon with me, so I just pulled out my iPhone and hoped for the best. Seems I got it, especially after my rather-brutal work day... i'll FB you the details, since by the looks of it, my future daytime could be replaced by dropping off resumes and transit spotting, instead of what I do right now. Ramirez
Haha. I read that scrapping buses is usually favored, is there any possible way that they can make their way to an auction site so that anybody can bid on them? (Like Ken Porter's in SoCal)
armorand
Sadly, our buse's are almost never sold privately, or auctioned. Last one was a 1967 New Look back in 1999. However, the MTHA usually gets to look at them before they're sent to the scrapper, either for spare parts or to preserve one. I heard from two members that 316 is a candidate for preservation due to it being one of the last that was refurbished. However, its not official yet, which is why I need to find the post and correct what I said in the other thread! Also, spotted 310 today (24), and tried to get a video of 332, but again, it didnt turn out so well...
BusRider
I've heard that it's 319. (Again, nothing official or final. So don't hold me to it. )
armorand
That bus looks so beat up, they better get WT to at least re-paint the damn thing before they give it to the MTHA! Well that, or I can start saving up for paint donations... I've heard that it's 319. (Again, nothing official or final. So don't hold me to it. )

armorand
Jeez, not to be rude or anything like that, but have they been running that Classic like that before retirement? You bet your ass! We run them down into the ground til the last mile hahaha, 319 does look the worst though, jeeze... They mostly mentioned 316 cause of the late refurbishment. If they did have it running, I bet it at least has alot more paint
armorand
MCI Classics going strong this week! Spotted 310 on Monday morning, and 329 this evening! armorand
310 on 21 - no surprise though, that or 329 or 302 have been on the 21, 22 or 24 at least once/twice a week going by Polo! Sadly, no pictures
DavidW
316 has been, um..., "reallocated" to an offsite storage location. Ownership remains with Winnipeg Transit.

BCT-3122-D800-10240
Sadly, our buse's are almost never sold privately, or auctioned. Last one was a 1967 New Look back in 1999. Yep. That was 1967 TDH-5303 #242. It was sold off in 1999 as you mentioned as well as 1960 TDH-5301 #271 which had been parked in Calgary up until quite recently when it and some others vanished... As for the Classics, Have none made it out yet this year? I am asking in case a few have forgotten to post spottings of them. As of this post, no spottings have been posted of these buses since December 28, 2012.

Classics: 301, 310, 329, 332 seen so far this year. 310 active tonight on Route 78, 329 active last week on Route 24. Sadly with both of my jobs, transit spotting is getting harder to do for me, but I always make sure to look out for the rarities! With the 800s coming in though, these ones are going to disappear for-sure by March.
