Just arrived in New Haven this week, will be staying for a year. Coming from Calgary, neat to note the similarities overall with the fleet there (Nova artics being the exception - we only have artic New Flyers). Really pleased to see the cloth-covered cushioned seats on the D40LFs, and the unexpected bonus of air conditioning while maintaining openable windows. Are there any particularly noteworthy units I should keep an eye out for in terms of nearing their retirement date and with distinctive features?

The 2001s are next for retirement. Those are: 108 (Comes out once a week or so to replace the Union Station Shuttle XDE35), 109, 110,111, & 112. Those, and the 300-series D40LFs.

There's the also brand new bus, 1750, if you're interested in that. Although, I can't imagine it looking too good now after spending the last couple days in service (New Haven's buses get quite a beating from the passengers).

Saw 1752 this morning - does CT bring them online sequentially according to their number? Nice to see the new fleet rolling out briskly.

The process can vary. I saw 1708 in Hartford before 1707. But now 1754 & 1768 are in line to receive it's tech before 1753,1755,etc.

That P/R sign appears on the weirdest buses...saw it twice on New Britain div buses, another time on 124 in Stamford, and now in New Haven.

I wonder if there will be one for CTrail.

The arrival of the 1800 series definitely signifies the end of the Detroit Diesel era in Connecticut. These will replace the last buses with  Series 50 engines (about 60 or so left). Detroit has been in CT buses since the 1960-70s. By the time the arrival of 2018 model transit vehicles arrive, the last Detroit Diesel vehicles will likely be Peter Pans older J4500s, and privately owned buses.

Was surprised to see 1798 doing an evening Union Station Shuttle run last night.

As am I...it could be possible that it occurred because it's the holiday season, and 1204 gets crowded regularly. But even if that was the case, 108 is supposed to be there, unless the driver asked for a 1700 instead.

It's not CT Transit, but pretty close? This weekend marked the inauguration of the new Hartford Line rail service between New Haven and Springfield via Hartford, and service was free on these two days. Very popular, it reached capacity by mid-day, and they apparently had to turn away "new" customers, reserving service only to bring people home - I have no idea how they enforced that. The return train from Hartford that I was supposed to be on got cancelled for unknown reasons, so they suggested either try cramming into the next Amtrak, or wait for the next CT Rail consist in 1.5 hours, or take one of the CT Transit buses that were doing a highway run back down to New Haven - chose the latter, thankfully with an air-conditioned XD40.

You went too, eh? Nice! I rode it on Saturday. I thought about going today just for those shuttle buses (maybe they would bring in some recently decommissioned MCI or the reserve 400s ^-^).

I thought Saturday was bad. The Amtrak shuttles had to turn people away at some stations, and the A/C on some of the ex-MBTA cars went out on Saturday. Until I heard what happened today, that is. As expected, some people were confused on why the bathrooms were locked.

Hmm, there was a D40LF that departed before our XD40 - didn't catch the number, though.

At least it's good to see there's such interest in the line. Hopefully the capacity is sufficient now that people have to actually pay.
