I noticed this stop update notice on Quinpool before Vernon. Looks like HT is at least rearranging the 123, but I haven't gone looking for any other notices.

Schedule and Service Adjustments - Effective February 18th, 2019:

Route 21: Schedule adjustment on James Street (layover reduction)

Route 39: Additional weekday evening trip Lacewood-bound departing Bridge Terminal at 10:57pm

Route 123: Stops added along St. Margaret's Bay Rd. Route will no longer travel along Quinpool Rd - instead using Chebucto to Cunard to Robie to Bell (reverse in PM)

Route 194: Inbound trips will now turn left on Broad St. instead of right. Outbound trips turn right at the first entrance to Broad St. then right on Gary Martin. In addition, the express section will now utilize Dunbrack St. through Clayton Park.

Route 330: Outbound trips will now access Gottingen St. from Duke St. instead of North St.

Alderney Ferry: Holiday service added on Easter Sunday.

System-wide boardings are up 4.1% from the same quarter a year ago, though the extra transfers from the Lacewood area adjustments can account for some of that. Ferry boardings have declined 10% from last year, but are still quite a bit higher than the levels pre-Big Lift. Notable are the ridership numbers by route - many of the altered routes show a noticeable increase in riders (Route 3 vs. the old 52; Route 4 vs. the old 17, 18 and 42; Route 39 vs. the old 16), and many of the new routes have decent-to-good passenger per hour counts (with the 28 doing quite well in particular). But more importantly...

...the proposed 2019/20 Service Plan is out. This year's focus is the overhaul of routing in the Sackville area, with some changes also planned in Burnside and Purcell's Cove areas too.

Group A:

Route 90: Route extended on Larry Uteck to service West Bedford

Route 86: Renumbered to NEW Route 196 Basinview Express with the same service levels. May have service levels adjusted in future years.

 

Group B:

(NEW) Route 8: Replaces Route 80, using the same routing at Corridor levels of service

Routes 64 + 66: Route 66 to end at Highfield Terminal (no service to Burnside or Cobequid). Route 64 routing adjusted to service areas removed from Route 66.

(NEW) Routes 82/182: Service between Sackville and Cobequid Terminals via First Lake Dr. Peak express service to/from Downtown. Replaces section of current Route 82.

(NEW) Routes 83/183: Expanded service to Springfield Estates and other areas in Middle Sackville. Peak express service to/from Downtown. Replaces current Route 83.

Route 84: Upgraded to conventional route - provides 7 day a week service along its existing route (Scotia Square to Sackville Terminal). No service to/from Summer St.

(NEW) Routes 85/185: Provides service between Millwood subdivision and Sackville Terminal. Peak express service to/from Downtown. Replaces section of current Route 82. Current Routes 85 and 185 completely discontinued.

(NEW) Routes 86/186: Provides service between Sackville Terminal and Kinsac Rd. off Beaverbank Rd. Peak express service to/from Downtown. Replaces current Route 400.

Route 87: Re-routed to use Sackville Dr. between Sackville and Cobequid Terminals. Also replaces section of Route 66 removed from Bedford/Burnside.

Route 88: Re-routed to use Old Sackville Rd. between Sackville and Cobequid Terminals. Will have increased service compared to the current route.

 

Group C

Route 89: Discontinued

(NEW) Route 91: Services West Bedford and Hemlock Ravine to Mumford Terminal. No service to/from Downtown Replaces existing Route 81.

(NEW) Route 93: Service between Bedford and Downtown via the Bedford Highway.

 

Group D

(NEW) Route 25: Provides service between Governor's Brook and Mumford Terminal. Replaces off-peak and weekend service provided by current Route 15.

(NEW) Route 26: Provides service between Springvale and Mumford Terminal. No service to/from Downtown. Replaces current Route 5.

(NEW) Route 415: Provides weekday peak service between York Redoubt and Mumford Terminal. No service to Bayers Road Centre. Replaces current Route 15.

 

Other Adjustments:

Route 29: Adjusted in the outbound direction to not enter Mumford Terminal. Route will stop on Mumford Road.

Halifax recently issued a tender for up to 150 40' buses over a 3 year period. Nova Bus is the winner of the most recent contract, and 35 Nova LFS buses will be delivered this year. There is also a recommendation to purchase up to 87 Nova LFS buses in 2021-2022 pending budget approval.

I rode 526 on July 24 and I felt it performed well. Both Hwy 118 and Hwy 102 Northbound have some elevation increase, it's always cause large vehicles slow down.

(NEW) Route 6A - Woodside Ferry, 6B - Eastern Passage, 6C - Heritage Hills (Replaces Routes 60 and 63) Services Bridge, Alderney, and Woodside Ferry Terminals to Woodside/Eastern Passage following existing routing of Route 60. Service removed from Everette, Franklyn, and Irving Streets in Woodside. All day + weekend service to Heritage Hills. Decreased service to Shore Road to compensate. Headways: Combined 7.5-15 minute Peak Weekday (30 minutes per branch), combined 15 minute Afternoon Off-Peak (30 minute 6A, 60 minute 6B + 6C), Combined 30 minute Weekday Evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays (60 minute 6B + 6C).

(NEW) Route 7A - Peninsula Clockwise, 7B - Peninsula Counterclockwise (Replaces Route 7) Similar to existing Route 7, but provides service in two-way loop to improve on-time performance (very much like Route 30A/B). Headways: 15 minute Weekday (except 30 minute after 11pm), 20 minute Saturdays, 30 minute Sundays/Holidays.

(NEW) Route 24 - Leiblin Park (Replaces Route 14) Services the Leiblin Park to Saint Mary's portion of current Route 14. No service to Downtown Halifax. Headways: 30 minute, 7-days-a-week.

(NEW) Route 26 - Springvale (Replaces Route 5) Services Mumford Terminal to Springvale portion of current Route 5. No service to Water Street Terminal.  3 AM and 4 PM trips, weekdays ONLY.

(NEW) Route 53 - Highfield (Replaces current Route 53) Services Highfield, Bridge, and Alderney Ferry Terminals. No peak service to/from Downtown Halifax. Two-way service along Wyse and Albro Lake Roads (thus, no service to Victoria Road). Headways: 30 minute Weekdays (except 60 minute after 9pm), 30 minute Saturdays (except 60 minute after 10pm), 60 minute Sundays/Holidays.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 54 - Montebello Route extended from Alderney Ferry Terminal to also service Bridge Terminal. Service added to portions of Breeze Drive, Columbo Drive, and Appian Way in Montebello.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 55 - Port Wallace Routing adjusted from Bridge Terminal to also service Alderney Ferry Terminal. Service no longer provided on Waverley Road between Montague Road and the Portobello Turning Loop; will now travel Waverley Road to Charles Keating Drive and Craigburn Drive.

(NEW) Route 57 - Portland Estates (Replaces current Route 57 between Penhorn and Portland Hills) Provides weekday peak service between Portland Hills and Penhorn Terminals via routing of current Route 57. Headways: 60 minute Weekday Peak ONLY.

(NEW) Route 62 - Grahams Cove (Replaces current Route 62 west of Penhorn Terminal, plus Route 66 between Penhorn and Gaston Road) Provides service to Bridge, Alderney Ferry, and Penhorn Terminals via routing of current Route 62, plus services Gaston Road. No service east of Hwy 111. Headways: 30 minute Weekday Peak, 60 minute Weekday Off-Peak, Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays.

(NEW) Route 63 - Mount Edward (Replaces Route 62 east of Penhorn Terminal) Provides service between Penhorn and Forest Hills Parkway via routing of current Route 62, except no service to the southern portion of Flying Cloud Drive. Two-way service via Forest Hills Parkway and Cole Harbour Road to Portland Hills Terminal. Headways: Approximately the same as Route 62 above.

(NEW) Route 67 - Baker (Replaces Route 57 between Woodside Ferry and Penhorn Terminals, plus Route 66 between Penhorn and Micmac Terminals) Provides service to Woodside Ferry, Penhorn, and Micmac Terminals via Baker Drive and Tacoma Centre. Headways: Approximately the same as Routes 62 and 63 above.

All of the following Express Routes (158, 159, 161, 165, 168A/B) travel via the routing of the current Route 159 Metrolink to/from Bridge and Scotia Square Terminals

(NEW) Route 58 - Woodlawn, 158 - Woodlawn Express (Replaces current Route 58) Services Penhorn and Portland Hills Terminals via Woodlawn. No service west of Penhorn Terminal or to the northern part of Spring Avenue. Two-way service to Portland Hills provided via the southern portions of Spring Avenue, Collins Grove, and Regal Road. Weekday peak service between Penhorn and Downtown Halifax provided by Route 158. Headways: 30 minute Weekday Peak (158), 60 minute Weekday Off-Peak, Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays.

(NEW) Route 59 - Colby, 159 - Colby Express (Replaces current Routes 59 and 159) Services Portland Hills Terminal to Colby Village via routing of current Route 59. Weekday peak service between Portland Hills and Downtown Halifax provided by Route 165. Headways: 30 minute Weekday Peak (165), 60 minute Weekday Off-Peak, Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays.

(NEW) Route 68 - Cherry Brook, 168A - Auburn Express, 168B - Cherry Brook Express (Replaces current Route 68, plus section of Route 61 between Hwy 7 and Cole Harbour Road) Services Portland Hills Terminal via routing of current Route 61 south of Hillsboro Drive, then the routing of current Route 68 north of Hillsboro Drive. Weekday peak service to Downtown Halifax provided by routes 168A (short turn in the Auburn area) and 168B (full service to Cherry Brook). Headways: Combined 15 minute Weekday Peak (30 minute on each Express route), 60 minute Weekday Off-Peak, Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays.

(NEW) Route 127 - Cowie Hill Express (Replaces current Express Route 32) Provides Weekday Peak service between Cowie Hill and Downtown Halifax. Routing adjusted to Chebucto Road. Service added to Long Lake Village, and removed from Old Sambro Road east of Dunbrack Street. Provides 9 trips in the peak direction both AM and PM.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 178 - Mount Edward Express, 179 - Cole Harbour Express (Renumbering of Routes 78 and 79) Reduction in service due to low ridership. Route 178 will now provide 4 AM and 5 PM trips, while Route 179 will provide 4 trips in the peak direction both AM and PM.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 401 - Porter's Lake Service removed from Grand Desert and Back Road. Will now service Lakeview Shopping Centre before travelling to the Porter's Lake Park-and-Ride. Limited weekend service added. 4 AM and 3 PM round trips on Weekdays, 1 AM and 2 PM round trips Saturdays, and Sundays/Holidays

In addition of ALL of this, Routes 90, 91, 194, and 433 will all be adjusted to service the new West Bedford Park-and-Ride.

Halifax transit is going to do some remedial work to it, and it’s supposed to be returned to Stellarton.

Proposed Route and Schedule Adjustments - November 2022

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 1 - Spring Garden Routing will be adjusted to service Gottingen Street in both directions between North and Cogswell. Overall scheduling to be overhauled due to chronic lateness on this route, though headways should be similar to present.

(NEW) Route 10A - Dalhousie-Bridge Terminal, 10B - Dalhousie-Micmac Terminal, 10C - Dalhousie-Westphal (Replaces current Routes 10 and 41) Multi-Branch route that will follow similar routing to existing Route 10. Route 41 will be discontinued (thus no service to South Street, or Barrington between South and Spring Garden). Service will be removed from Beaufort Avenue and Inglis Street west of Robie and moved to Robie and South.

(NEW) Route 50 - Dockyard (Replaces Route 11) - Will follow similar routing to current Route 11 between Bridge Terminal and CFB Dockyard, but will be extended to start/end at the Irving Shipyards on Barrington Street. Expected to run on detour for an extended period due to the Cogswell Interchange project.

(NEW) Route 51A - BIO and Ocean Breeze via Windmill, 51B - Wrights Cove via Windmill (Replaces current Route 51) Multi-branch route that will service BIO and Ocean Breeze Estates during off-peak hours (51A), then extend to the future Wrights Cove Terminal during weekday peak (51B). All trips will service BIO via the new Hudson Way connection.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 56 - Dartmouth Crossing Route will be extended to Wrights Cove Terminal via Wright Avenue, though will take a more direct route than originally proposed in the Moving Forward Together Plan.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 72 - Dartmouth Crosstown Service will be adjusted to service areas north of Wright Avenue that have seen rapid development in recent years (IKEA, Kent, etc.). Routing will also be moved to Commodore Drive into and out of Dartmouth Crossing and removed from Ilsley Avenue north of Ronald Smith Avenue and from Wright Avenue between Ilsley and John Savage Avenue.

(NEW) Route 192 - Hemlock Ravine Express Will provide service for areas near Larry Uteck Blvd. east of Highway 102. Partial merger of the Routes 192 and 195 that were proposed in the Moving Forward Together Plan.

(ADJUSTMENTS) Route 196 - Basinview Express Two additional trips will be added in both directions.

Transit also notes that Routes 194, 196, and 330 may be rerouted to Highway 102 and Bayers Road to take advantage of the new transit-only lanes set to be activated this year. This year's adjustments will all but complete the Moving Forward Together Plan, with the only remaining projects to be Wrights Cove Terminal, and the Route 310 Middle Sackville Express/Margeson Drive Park-and-Ride. Crazy to think about how far we've come in the last six years...

It is expected that Regional Council will on Tuesday name Nova Bus the vendor for our first 60 electric buses - 30 this year and 30 more next year - along with the upgrades to Ragged Lake Transit Centre necessary to house them.

(EDIT 5/16/22) Route and Schedule Adjustments - Effective May 23rd, 2022

Route 1 - Peak trips that currently service Roslyn Road will return to servicing Bayers Road by way of the new transit priority lane.

Route 194 - Adjusted to travel inbound and outbound on Highway 102 and Bayers Road. Service to two inbound stops on Kempt Road and one stop on Robie Street will be removed.

Route 330 - Adjusted to travel inbound and outbound on Highway 102 and Bayers Road. No change to existing stops or the route schedule.

(EDIT 6/24/22) - Was happy to see that Transit has fixed the branch letters on Routes 6 and 7. Until now the letters were the same font size as the numbers (i.e. 6B, 7A, etc.) which made the 6B and 7B look more like 68 and 78. Now the letters are smaller, and centered vertically like on the 9 and 30. At the time of writing this, I cannot confirm whether they've also fixed the weird lower-case letters on Route 168 - sorry, but seeing '168a' and '168b' is just wrong to me... Also noticed that what was once "7B Gottingen" is now "7B Novalea via Gottingen".

Halifax Transit has postponed all of this year's proposed service changes (except the Route 11 change to Route 50), citing ongoing staff shortages. They are currently hoping to implement them in February, provided they have enough drivers available to do so.
