Anyone who is familiar with Niagara Region Transit know if route 435 will be running tomorrow? Brock University to Pen Center?

The website is not entirely clear if this route runs on Sundays or not.

Looks like all the NF units have been returned to Falls division. Welland NFIs 1154-55 and Novas 1164/1173-74 are back in service.

NRT 1932 tracking on Welland 509 Niagara today.

2679 also spotted on 501 Broadway again.

I had a conversation with a driver in Welland today. I was told Welland is due for route modifications, which could begin as soon as September 1.

Although NRT has not released anything yet, the modifications are said to be as follows:

503 First Ave - inbound from Thorold Road: continue along Thorold Road, turn right on Aqueduct Street. From there, right on Church Street, left on Niagara and proceed downtown.

508 Woodlawn - service restored to Walmart. From River Road outbound, the bus will turn right onto Woodlawn and left onto Primeway Drive. Right at the next set of lights, left at the stop sign by Mark's Warehouse and stop by the Walmart garden centre. The bus will then continue straight behind Canadian Tire, then turn left onto River Road and exit the way it enters the plaza.

509 Niagara - will lose the Aqueduct portion to 503. From Niagara and Thorold (inbound), the bus will continue straight along Niagara Street.

I'm also hearing that 20 new 40' NovaBus units have been confirmed for NRT. Mechanics have inspected the entire fleet and will slowly decommission units purchased in or before 2015. St Catharines will be taking at least 7 new buses, Niagara Falls will take at least 6, and Welland will be receiving whatever new units are left, plus a few "hand-me-downs" from Niagara Falls.

When new buses arrive, Welland's 0604, 1146, 1150-51, 1154, 1155, and possibly 1140-41 will be retired.

I'm thinking that the "hand me downs" would be the surviving 40 foot transit owned WEGO units.

Another Welland Nova is out of commission for body work. Not sure which one it was, but it was rear ended by Welland's 1168 at downtown terminal today.

The Nova was parked downtown as 508, and 1168 (running 503) attempted to pull around, but was too far forward to negotiate the turn.

Fare increase coming on July 1, 2025 from $3.00 to $3.50. In addition the $6.00 inter-municipal fare will be decreased to $3.50 as NRT looks to make a one-fare system for all services.

As a transit geek, I like to think that I know transit better than the average customer. However, I am confused about the changes to the WEGO Red Line and NRT route 116 that takes effect tomorrow.

I am assuming that the WEGO daily pass will no longer be good on route 116. Is this correct? Will customers on Lundy's Lane now require an NRT day pass for $7 in addition to the $13 for the WEGO daily pass.

Route 116 will only go as far as Stanley Avenue. That means people who stay in hotels on Lundy's Lane will need a transfer to WEGO Blue Line to get to the Falls. In a city that should be promoting transit for tourists, these latest changes sound like they will do exactly the opposite.

Is 1149 Eldorado &  1170-1171 Vincity Buses retired from service from Welland? Just Curious

Yes. All 3 have been retired. 1149 due to mileage and a lack of available parts and the Vicinitys due to their size and a lack of available parts.

Yes, 116 is now under the region and there fares apply.  Check out this link  which explains everything about the changes to  Lundy Lane service.

Too true.

The hours WEGO & NRT have on holidays and in the summer are ridiculous, forcing you to try and book a hotel. Or, if you're not that far from the GO Station, you have to run all the way back to the GO Bus Terminal after getting off a WEGO Blue Line somewhere.  Just made our bus by 5 minutes.

NRT doesn't operate very good on the holidays, for a city that has 3 transit systems, 1 intercity (GO), 1 region-wide (NRT) and one for tourists. Wishing NRT and GO could consult together with the public to say what needs to be improved. The Green Line schedule is horrendous too.
