Michael Posted September 1, 2006 Report Share Posted September 1, 2006 This is what I heard on Monday. Debbie was as happy as a clam about it. Debbie does 099s on Saturdays. Just as she's about to go back to Burnaby, Control calls her upand asks her if she'd like to do a couple PNE Specials. She says yes, and Control tells her where to find the loop. She turns into a driveway too soon, and ends up having to back out with some supervisor assistance. After she finally finds the loop, she does her two trips, and is asked if she wants to do another. Everybody, after all, loves overtime. Coming south on Renfrew she starts hearing some zzzt-zzzt noise, like a really loud Luminator sign when it's changing. Then the whole front of the artic goes dark. It's a short in the circuit, but the decides to do nothing. She pulls into 29th Avenue Station where a couple people are standing at the 029 stop wanting to go to Kingsway. After reporting to Control, she brings them down to Kingsway. Except she can't get the doors open. Nothing works except bleeding the air and pushing open the door manually. She calls Control again, and they decide since she's heading back in anyway, just to let her carry on. So just as she finishes turning left onto Boundary from Kingsway, the bus dynamites and refuses to respond; no acceleration, no doors, nothing, not even the onboard Slurpee machine. It won't even let her turn it off. And of course, Control promises to send a supervisor. In the end, the same supervisor from the PNE comes by and has to turn the bus off from the engine compartment. And right then as she finishes telling me this, the "Check Engine" light begins flashing on her dashboard... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dave Yes I am, and I have been for awhile. And since it's a '91 coach, why not have it display 'GO GRIZZLIES GO'? Would anyone actually notice? I showed pictures of V3103 to a friend of mine who's crazy (like really really crazy) into Canucks...........now it turns out he wants to grab pictures of that bus too! The Grizzlies were an NBA team in the 90's but back in 2000 they were moved to Memphis. Michael Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 I went to the new depot this morning, and while recieving my complimentary VTC water bottle and my complimentary Denis Clements autograph, I saw 7243 in one of the maintenance bay. Then later at UBC, I saw 7242 on a 41. Something tells me that we've gotten a couple buses. 2101 and 2102 have been going up and down Granville all day, and I hear new arrival 2103's being retrofitted. N4188 (Non-Accessible Classic) from Burnaby get stuck running the 44 UBC this morning, packed with students from front to back. (First day of classes) Here is what I think: Either BTC is expecting the new D40LFR's and sending off their fleet elsewhere, which leaves them only a limited amount of spares, or maybe they should get 7242 and 7243 back from VTC And that Ad on R8089 makes the Albino Artic look really nice, maybe it doesn't need the sweep and can continue with ads until the next paint job in a couple of years Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(Of course, there MIGHT be a chance of somebody catching it as a training bus!) Back on sightings report.............V3228 is freshly refurblished and was seen on rt.15 today........she was off the road for at least 4 months..........at that point she was still a North Van bus. R3236 and R3246 were running Route 160 Run 30 and Run 31 out of Poco today, they must have been sent there to account for the missing C40LFR's. And with R3110 and R3213 out of VTC, that means RTC sent off at least 4 of their buses elsewhere. I've also noticed much more D40LF's showing up on the 99 B-Line this sheet. Last year, most of the runs were covered by Artics, but I've seen a handful of D40LF's daily covering this sheet, some even during midday. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
