Broward County Transit Bus Update

Academy bus has taken over operations of the tri-rail shuttle between the lauderdale airport tri-rail station and the airport terminals. They have sent some 2017 nova LFS 4th gens from the 2141-2150 series down from new york for it, as they are no longer being used on the NYU shuttles.

Here is a picture of one of the units from the tri rail website.

(yes this isnt directly related to BCT, but since these buses operate in broward county and connect with BCT, i decided to post it here)

BCT currently has 95 buses up for auction this weekend. 77 40ft buses and 19 cutaways. This officially finishes off the 2002/2003 Gilligs and all but a handful of the 2005-2008 Nabis.

I did find out through the South Florida Transit facebook page, all 77 of the buses sold in the April auction were purchased by EG Used Truck Parts in Opa-Locka. This is a well known bus scrapper in South Florida. They scrap a lot of Miami-Dade Transit and local school buses.

Sad to see since I know some of those older Gilligs were still in running condition.

The 2020 New Flyer XD60s are now in revenue service this week. All of the units has Voith D864.6 Transmissions except for 2018 and 2020 Gillig BRT Diesel buses according to Marcos A.R and Transit PLUS+ on YouTube. @Chao-Hwa Chen had falsely edited the wrong information for 2018 And 2020 Gilligs that has Allison B400R Transmissions on CPTDB Wiki and he forgets to edit that 2018 Gillig were the last buses to be delivered in the 2006-18 Brezze Livery and 2020-present livery on newer Gilligs.

Already corrected them. Thank you.

A few more pictures of the BCT proterras have been posted by BCT on twitter.

Also, the 2005 nabis have been confirmed retired. These were the last active BCT buses from the bee line livery era. The oldest active buses are now the 5 remaining 2007 nabis.

Thanks for the info  @richard_carrera11and are these parts for sale or nearest offer and did Broward County Transit get their funding  from the scrap yard in Opa-Locka for electric buses yet?

No. These buses got auctioned off from a auction site and EG Used Truck Parts buys them and scraps them he also buys buses from Miami-Dade Transit And Palm Beach

I was walking in Ft Lauderdale Beach early this morning and saw bus 1419 in the 2020+ color scheme. I thought it was interesting!

I saw an order pending for 60 more Gillig Low Floor busses. Being too tired to do the math, will it replace the pre 2013 40 foot busses?

The are 15 new NFI diesel Excelsior atics coming, likely to replace the ugly 2009 NFI LFA-60 busses. Bus 0906 is off the active roster.

Believe it or not, it seems like three 2011 NABI 40-LFW busses are retired, according to the roster. Bus 1101, 1102, and 1103! Also, busses from the 0813-0842 group are finished!

Any more updates or corrections?

Yeah but the fleet numbers for Gilligs and New Flyers are not confirmed as yet. Hope the 2008 NABIs and 2009 New Flyers will  end up in Central Florida or sent at Copart or IAAI (Insurance Auto Auctions)

It looks like they also inherited Tri-Rail's own 2016 ElDorados. They are now 2912-2915.

Does anyone know the status of the last 5 remaining 2007 and 2008 nabis (numbers 0707, 0720, 0724, 0744, 0812), as they are still listed on the wiki as active but i havent tracked any in service in a long time.

0924, the last remaining 09xx nabi, is in service today on route 50.

Testing for Miami-Dade and Broward County Transit for the opening of the New Golden Glades Multi-Modal Bus Terminal which will be opening on Monday which will reroute all bus routes into the new terminal and will close the east lot which will be rebuilt into a Truck Stop Terminal

This building looks very nice. Is this funded by FDOT and did FDOT invested their scrap money for bus charging stations yet for Broward and Miami-Dade and did the New Golden Glades Multi-Modal Bus Terminal have any restrooms and parking spaces available for bus drivers and did FDOT invested the property out of their own pocket to build a Truck Stop Terminal with the Restaurants, Gas Stations, Car Wash, Tire Shop, Mechanic and Body Work Shop and Restrooms for the Truck Drivers, Locals and Tourists when they traveling to Florida Keys while they cruising on their Cross Country trips for Business delivery and other stuff?

I saw a post on the South Florida Transit facebook page that new Gilligs have started arriving. 2201-2206 are at least the newest ones on property.

Yeah but did Broward County Transit went back to the 4-digit numbering system due to their computer acting up again?  One of the delivery drivers at the Gillig  posted some of the latest ones on Instagram as well. Bus 2213 and up are more buses  at the Gillig factory in California right now ongoing on delivery schedule as of this month. Are the XD60s will be built in Minnesota with the tip in windows and the rear windows as well
