smallspy
They dont need to keep them as spares for when the summer is over? What if there is a problem with the TR's? If there is a problem with the TRs, they will still be more reliable than the H6s. Dan
Finch East
Hi guys, I figured that barely anyone has information updated on the fate of the H6s. Apparently there are only TWO H6 trainsets left (Not sure what the fleet numbers are). During the Russell carhouse doors open this year, I've spoke with one of the employees there, who stated that last year he seen only 6 H6 trainsets left in Greenwood. Therefore it would logically make sense that by now there are 2 trainsets left and I also believe their last day will be sometime soon like June 20th I suppose. drum118
June 20 is the final run for the H6 that I have known for the past month and here is the plan for it. Depart Greenwood eastbound at 10 am to Kennedy and then a round trip to Kipling and back like the H4 final run
T3G
I've never understood why each "last run" took place at a different time. The H4's took place in the morning rush, the H5s around noon, and the H6s shortly after the AM rush. How are these times decided? Drawing them out of a hat?? New York had the right idea when they ran their last R40 Slant train all day.
T3G
Yes, I'm disappointed I can't go to the final run. Since when has this been a characteristic exclusive to foamers? Or did they change the definition again? Goddammit... Moreover, how is this different than sports fans being disappointed/pissed that their team screwed up or got eliminated? T3G
That post is meant to be a joke, right? At which point did I say that I expected the TTC to cater to my own needs? Expressing my personal dissatisfaction with the date chosen does not yet mean that I expect the TTC to drop everything to make the schedule work for me - that is what you fabricated in your own mind. I liked the idea of the train running all day, as per NYC Transit, but again, I'm not expecting the TTC to do it that way just for me - I'm just saying that NYC had a good idea. If that's the vibe I gave off in my original post, I apologize - I don't always articulate my thoughts in the best way. It's more of a "F***... that sucks" situation rather than a "F*** the TTC for not doing things exactly the way I wanted them to!" situation. I could do the same thing and gripe about my school for scheduling my exam at such a time, but again, these things aren't designed with each person's personal wants and schedules in mind. Hence, "This scenario sucks" instead of "The school/TTC sucks". This entire idea was only included in my original post as a side comment. The main point of my post was asking how the times were chosen, given how they seem to be completely arbitrary, changing from year to year - my own thoughts on the time chosen 100% immaterial, and only added in as a side comment. Those are not illegal, yet, are they? Yea.... and it's funny how people will clear there schedules for sporting events that they pay hundreds of bucks to see their team loose. Yet people have the nerve to complain when the TTC holds a event for the low cost of 3 bucks a person. Again, see above. I'm not blaming the TTC but bemoaning the circumstances in general. Just like how a sports fan might know that he's powerless to affect the outcome of the match starring his favorite team - but he'll dislike it anyway. Again, not even the main topic of the post. You still haven't elaborated how any of this is characteristic of foamers, by the way. And this isn't Twitter.
T3G
Re-read your post from Today, 09:30 AM It is defiantly a post of you complaining about the times they choose. That's why I said hashtagfoamerproblems. Alright, let's take a look at my post from Today, 09:30 AM, shall we? "I've never understood why each "last run" took place at a different time. The H4's took place in the morning rush, the H5s around noon, and the H6s shortly after the AM rush. How are these times decided? Drawing them out of a hat??" I've already covered the side comment made in the next line, so I won't get on that again. But which specific parts of the above quote indicate that I am complaining about the times chosen? Saying that the times chosen make no sense and that they might as well have drawn them from a hat isn't complaining, unless they've changed the definition on me, in which case, I'd better fork out for a new dictionary. If they had done them all during one specific time period (could be the AM rush, PM rush or 1 AM), that would have made sense, but you get the impression that they just left the timers on their phones running too long, and when they noticed, said, "Hey, this could be a good time to have the last H5 run." And maybe there is a method to this madness that I don't know about, hence why I posed the question in the first place. The only complaining that I did was bemoaning the way the circumstances have fallen in place, again: side comment, and not blaming anyone. and what the heck is Twitter? A bird? No, it's Boeing's latest model. They decided that the 7x7 numbering was just getting too stale. Oh, sh**, I wasn't supposed to tell you that, that was top secret. noahrp24
The last H6 set was 5858-5859-5908-5909-5899-5859. I hate how they covered the front window with the retirement sign but oh well.
ttcgeek
I honestly loved the retirement signs. T3G
blogTO post on the final H6 run: http://www.blogto.com/city/2014/06/the_ttc_says_goodbye_to_its_last_h6_subway_train/ For fans hoping to own a piece of subway history, the TTC is considering selling used parts on the Internet."We are looking at things like the number plates on the exterior, seats, anything we might be able to salvage and re-sell, we are looking at that," says Brad Ross, the TTC's head of communications. "There's a desire to have some sort of a store. It would be online, we're absolutely going to do something. This sounds interesting, I wonder how much they'd go for? Goodbye old friends! Goodbye old friends! Will always remember the better days as a kid, riding between Kennedy and downtown. There was a broken seat panel and someone wanted to keep it. A few people asked to keep the plates of the trains, And when the train arrived, crew members started to take the maps off the walls.Someone was the last to get off at Kennedy cause he asked for a map from the top of the train. And he got one but he had to get someone to key open the door to let him off. I asked if I can keep the vinyl sign for the retirement trip and she told me to send an e-mail to the ttc about it. Maybe I might be able to get somthing
F59PH
It is reported elsewhere that the consist was 5858-5859-5908-5909-5899-5898 and that 5898 is not the original car but ex 5921. If 5899 is still the original car then it would make a set with two B cars, is this technically possible? If not what is this 5899 ex?
FlyerD901
You can't have two B cars. The only time you had that was when 5754 was both an A and B car. Maybe panels were switched around. The B car has an Air Compressor, the A car doesn't have that.

If only I knew how to insert a picture on these forums.... Sometimes they just swap out panels inside cars with those from other cars. Doesn't mean it's a positive ID of a number swap. If the exterior number plates look like they've changed maybe, but you always can check the serial number of the car to be sure. Someone took an interior photo of the plate the other day that matches the original 5898's number, xx-xx-1530. No number swap.
