general682002
Actually, the TV screens on the C40LFs are left-overs from Kitchener Transit's brief experiment with IT TV (In-Transit Television) which also operated (and may still, I don't know) on Brampton Transit buses. It wasn't very successful, the same information was displayed weeks on end (including the weather forcasts), most of the time the video was the same one being shown in Brampton, with Brampton related ads etc., then to add insult to injury some people were actually stealing the TV's out of the buses parked outside at night. So a combination of factors likely led to the program being cancelled, but some TV's still remain on the buses. It-Tv went out of business shortly. kitchenerlrt
So how many buses are currently TV equipted?
crantila
So how many buses are currently TV equipted? That's a good question. My uneducated guess is "two or three." Today I saw bus 2422 waiting at King and University, heading southbound on King Street. That's all well and good, but the engine compartment was open! (I know nothing more than that it was sitting there with the engine compartment open).
kitchenerlrt
How many buses is GRT expecting this year? It may seem like a simple question, but are they getting the twenty or more? Thanks
D. DeLarge
Brampton's fleet of Orion VI's (9641-45 and 9846-64) were the only ones equipped with the IT-TV's. From sometime in 2001 onward they weren't used, and all had their TV's removed in/by 2004.
kitchenerlrt
How many buses that are going to arrive in 2007 will go to Cambridge and Kitchener? I know that the Kitchener garage will retire 7 or so highfloors , but is cambridge getting any of those brand new novas?
PrevostH3-45
There are also a few 94XX series buses that have monitors in them. As mentioned earlier, the program never really took off as the company who provided the service went bust.

The other has mysteriously disappeared from the box in the ceiling that's supposed to hold it up.
Greater Golden Horseshoe Transit
Funny thing I saw today (Friday), I saw a bus on Route 10 with digital signs "10 Pioneer" on them rather than "10 Conestoga College" or "10 Fairview Mall". I'm very happy to see that. I've been suggesting to GRT staff for a long time that GRT needs a standardized signage policy on all routes so it's easy to figure out where the bus is going (considering also that a number of routes back-track on themselves). Amongst other things I made the suggestions that Route 10 - Conestoga College/Fairview Park Mall be named the 10 Pioneer, and the 16 Forest Glen/Conestoga College be called the 16 Huron (whether I or someone else influenced the decision is anybody's guess, but I digress). All routes would have names, and the destinations would be displayed afterwards (in the case of old roll signs, only the route name would be displayed). - [#] [NAME] to [DESTINATION] - 10 Pioneer to Conestoga College - 16 Huron to Forest Glen The signage would work the same way as HSR's signs (e.g. 27 Upper James to Mountain Garage, 2 Barton to Bell Manor Loop). Opinions??

How can that be acurate? There are no scheduled trips that end at Homer Watson & Pioneer, and the bus appeared to be carrying what looked like College Students. Maybe a miskeyed destination sign?? Still, the underlying point I'm trying to make is that GRT's signs can be confusing to the novice rider, some routes have signage like HSR's (19 Victoria South to Highland Hills) and some don't (4 Glasgow...despite the fact the Glasgow Street is in the middle of the route, and not its final destination, good choice for route name though)

It use to be part of the Conestoga College express that ran from Fairview. Do you know if there is still a college express that runs from Fairview Mall? Although this may be the route for the #10, shouldn't the express actually be an express and only use manitou and homer watson? I find it weird that an EXPRESS bus should need to follow this slow and winding route. Cheers.

If you look at the 5:15pm trip from Fairview, you will notice that it only goes as far as Pioneer and Homer Watson. That must be why the destination sign stated 10 Pioneer. I guess all those people had to get off and wait for the next one at that location. Speaking of the route 110 express, did anyone notice how strange this route actually is? It turns left off Manitou and goes directly to the college along Homer Watson.

Ther's an error on the schedule then, because the trip is highlighted in Black like an express trip yet has timepoints like the regular Route 10. Either way, it was after 6:00 when I saw the bus Friday evening, so it must've been a miskeyed sign. Actually the map doesnt show it but I think that is the way it goes. Anyone know the situation with this route? Cheers Yes the Route 110 does go straight down Homer Watson from Manitou. I've suggested several times that the route should be shown on the maps (Pocket Timetable and System Wide Map) so people know where it goes, but if you look at the System Map, GRT seems content on a little oval style line map in a small inset. I agree, how many years were they on the buses for? At first, they were so easy to spot, but then they started to go away (at least for me) Any future wraps? Usually if you see a 110 express running"through the bush" as it's called it's because the construction on Homer Watson and the 401 have traffic backed up so fa thats it's pointless to sit in it.
