TransitIsMyThing Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 I love 2008rs. The bell sound is awesome and the seating arrangment has quads.
BoredCapturer Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 The 2011 hybrids are simply goated. They look cool, their motors sound great, and their launch is simply unmatched. I don't have any memory of the 2008 ones, but I can imagine that they were petty similar. Anyways, I just spotted a full hybrid bus running on the 29, and a 2023 hybrid that already has a dysfunctional rear door, at Weber/Lincoln.
TransitIsMyThing Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 Thanks for posting this, I really like seeing Sorry Bus Full photos. I’d try to ride the 2008rs now while they are still in service. I find the 2011rs engines to be really loud however they do still sound good.
TC60102N Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Not sure if this is common or not, I don't get to come through Waterloo Region often, but today was the first time I saw Hybrid Novas on the ION Bus in Cambridge. No Fleet Numbers sorry The only ION branded bus I saw was on the 206.

Pretty rare from what I’ve seen during my Cambridge drive-by’s on the 401.
AnthonyTheBusFan2006 Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Guys, it says 8019 was last seen on July 24th according to Trannsee. Idk if it's retired tho.
Transit 20 Posted September 5, 2024 Author Report Posted September 5, 2024 nope more likely getting a rebuild nothing is post to be retired for awhile due to the hybrids being delayed.
BoredCapturer Posted September 11, 2024 Report Posted September 11, 2024 I saw 21117 on the 201 today (couldn't take a picture cuz I was carrying lunch) Btw does anyone know why GRT only keeps its buses for 14-16 years?

It’s supposed to be kept that long. Buses are aging and costing more for maintenance.

Oldest bus in Ontario is a Niagara Falls Orion VII. Most agencies keep them 12 to 18 years. Maybe even longer. 1

Transit 20 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Report Posted September 16, 2024 anything can show up on any route they are short on buses right now
AnthonyTheBusFan2006 Posted September 16, 2024 Report Posted September 16, 2024 I wonder if GRT could get 2nd hand buses if they are going through a fleet shortage?
Transit 20 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Report Posted September 16, 2024 there was talk about it nothing has happen yet and with GRT breaking another ridership record and still waiting for Nova to deliver the remaining hybrids that could still happen
TransitIsMyThing Posted September 16, 2024 Report Posted September 16, 2024 Here’s a pic from February 2024 of 8019 on the 7: 2

It is a very valid question considering Brampton did the same thing. It is an idea that has been mentioned but that's as far as it went for now.

Now imagine since Brampton isnt using them that GRT got them back! lol The issue with second hand buses is that the market is pretty dry right now, most agencies are now hanging on to anything they have, but Mississauga is probably in a position to dump the remaining D40LFRs when the 2024 Xcelsiors arrive, so if GRT needs buses, they better be swift in their discussion with Miway.

Miway is scrapping all the D40LFR buses. Langilles will be the scrapyard.
AnthonyTheBusFan2006 Posted September 20, 2024 Report Posted September 20, 2024 Sorry I keep bringing this up, but does anyone know approximately how long it'll take till 8019 returns to service? If it does ever return?
Transit 20 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Report Posted September 20, 2024 why is it important for 8019 to be out I can ask a supervisor but I rather not
