The 2011 hybrids are simply goated. They look cool, their motors sound great, and their launch is simply unmatched. I don't have any memory of the 2008 ones, but I can imagine that they were petty similar.

Anyways, I just spotted a full hybrid bus running on the 29, and a 2023 hybrid that already has a dysfunctional rear door, at Weber/Lincoln.

Not sure if this is common or not, I don't get to come through Waterloo Region often, but today was the first time I saw Hybrid Novas on the ION Bus in Cambridge.

No Fleet Numbers sorry 😇

The only ION branded bus I saw was on the 206.

Pretty rare from what I’ve seen during my Cambridge drive-by’s on the 401.

I saw 21117 on the 201 today (couldn't take a picture cuz I was carrying lunch)
Btw does anyone know why GRT only keeps its buses for 14-16 years?

It’s supposed to be kept that long. Buses are aging and costing more for maintenance.

Don't the TTC and HSR have much older buses

Oldest buses in GRT are the 2008 Nova Bus fleet. Oldest bus in Ontario is a Niagara Falls Orion VII. Most agencies keep them 12 to 18 years. Maybe even longer.

I wonder if GRT could get 2nd hand buses if they are going through a fleet shortage?

It is a very valid question considering Brampton did the same thing. It is an idea that has been mentioned but that's as far as it went for now.

Brampton bought second hand buses from GRT.... 🤣  Now imagine since Brampton isnt using them that GRT got them back! lol

The issue with second hand buses is that the market is pretty dry right now,  most agencies are now hanging on to anything they have, but Mississauga is probably in a position to dump the remaining D40LFRs when the 2024 Xcelsiors arrive, so if GRT needs buses, they better be swift in their discussion with Miway.

Miway is scrapping all the D40LFR buses. Langilles will be the scrapyard.
