Transit 20 Posted March 4, 2023 Author Report Posted March 4, 2023 yep Thats Correct. Route 7 use to be out of Strasburg now a Northfield Route. Route 36 is a Cambridge Route that Interlines with the 57 at Conestoga College. 1
Shaun Posted March 15, 2023 Report Posted March 15, 2023 https://globalnews.ca/news/9546586/waterloo-ion-train-pedestrian-death/ Regarding this incident and another who was a boy leaving school it amazes me how people carelessly cross the tracks. We don't know if either was intentional but is safety a concern with the system? And considering that trains travel quite slowly I'm interested in why it didn't see someone walking along the tracks. 1
TransitIsMyThing Posted March 18, 2023 Report Posted March 18, 2023 Are the VMC's only supposed to go on the 27 and the 59? I saw one running the on the 1
Transit 20 Posted March 18, 2023 Author Report Posted March 18, 2023 they been spotted on the 34 also the 53-64 they could be short on buses
GMoldlook Posted March 21, 2023 Report Posted March 21, 2023 So...can anyone in the know provide a concise summary of the service changes that will happen this fall? Or is anything still in flux?

Transit 20 Posted March 21, 2023 Author Report Posted March 21, 2023 All changes will happen in Cambridge and Kitchener in September its posted on GRT website. GRT also has a new Director of transit he comes from Metrolinx
GMoldlook Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 So there seems to be a bit of public backlash to deleting route 2...anyone think GRT will actually adapt anything as a result, or is Fall 2023 a done deal?
Transit 20 Posted April 20, 2023 Author Report Posted April 20, 2023 yep from the mayor of Kitchener and others Apparently regional Council is looking at options to keep the 2 running they should have done public meetings to hear from the tax payers but they didnt.
LTCBusRider15 Posted April 27, 2023 Report Posted April 27, 2023 It looks like GRT could be going on strike if a deal is not reached soon. The strike could affect bus service, MobilityPLUS operators, MobilityPLUS reservationists, fleet mechanics and service attendants. iON will not be affected as is operated by a different company. https://www.grt.ca/en/rider-information/customer-updates.aspx
LTCBusRider15 Posted April 29, 2023 Report Posted April 29, 2023 A tentative agreement has been reached with the Region of Waterloo and GRT. But however the union might strike on Monday according to this CTV News Kitchener story. https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/grand-river-transit-s-union-and-region-of-waterloo-reach-tentative-agreement-1.6377063 UPDATE: GRT employees will be on strike as of May 1st because GRT employees rejected the offer from the region. this means conventional bus service, busPLUS or MobilityPLUS will not operate during the strike. https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/grand-river-transit-workers-reject-deal-strike-starts-on-monday-1.6377063 1
Stops At Posted May 3, 2023 Report Posted May 3, 2023 After reading that drivers did not even get paid until they reached their first stop. I wonder how fast the Labour board would get involved with that and how much legal trouble the region would be in for not paying employees properly.

The Operators are paid a 15 minute pre-trip inspection and to dead head to the first stop.
LTCBusRider15 Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 Service will resume tomorrow May 11th Sorry about the late post This site has been having issues for me loading.
Mark Walton Posted May 25, 2023 Report Posted May 25, 2023 No fares were collected through the long weekend. I was in KW Sunday of the long weekend, IONning through the day.
Transit 20 Posted June 1, 2023 Author Report Posted June 1, 2023 sure is i was at Strasburg Garage this morning to get pictures. 2
LTCBusRider15 Posted June 3, 2023 Report Posted June 3, 2023 Looking at the Route 2 situation It looks like they are going to extend Route 34 to the Sunrise Center Station. Also they might add a stop on iXpress Route 204 at Highland/Path to Burnaby Crescent to provide access for transit users in the Rolling Meadows Drive area. https://www.grt.ca/en/about-grt/plans-and-projects.aspx#2023-service-adjustments
Transit 20 Posted June 5, 2023 Author Report Posted June 5, 2023 the 34 Extension to replace part of the Route 2 is getting Approval from some operators even the customers are thinking its a good idea we will see what regional council thinks. 1
rideunderdarkness Posted June 8, 2023 Report Posted June 8, 2023 Would someone be willing to share what the current top rate is for drivers with the latest agreed to contract and what the top rate will be at the end of the contract? Ours in London is up and would like to have an idea of what GRT wages are. Thanks.
