Why would they get rid of Shoppers to add two extra bays? Just cut down the tree's behind the terminal and add two extra stops behind the 3/22. The expansion would be for the 201 (so it doesn't have to share with the 33).

True, but the stairs near the trees would have to be dealt with, and all the extra work to level out the road since there is a hill/slope around there.

Methadone left on GRT bus

KITCHENER — Police are warning the public after a quantity of methadone was accidentally left on a Grand River Transit bus.

A patient of a Kitchener methadone clinic left the bus at the Charles Street terminal on Monday at about 6 p.m. He left behind two lockboxes carried in a black canvas grocery bag. The boxes contain 20 100 mg bottles of methadone.

A search has not turned up the methadone. Police are warning that the quantities could be lethal if consumed.

Anyone who locates the bag or its contents is asked to call police immediately at 519-650-8500 ext. 4499.

Student hit by GRT bus at roundabout

A student was hit by a GRT bus this morning at the roundabout at Homer Watson Boulevard and Block Line.

She was taken to Grand River Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel.

The crash occurred at about 8:45 a.m. and officers were still on scene at noon trying to determine cause.

“This is the first personal injury collision that I’m aware of (at that roundabout),” Heinzel said. “We’ve had numerous fender benders.”

There have been more than 20 collisions at the roundabout since it opened near the end of August.

Critics warned that the placement of the roundabout so near St. Mary’s High School could put student pedestrians in danger.

The Region of Waterloo, the school board and police worked with students at the beginning of the school year to train them on how to safely cross a roundabout.
