I wonder if it'll be in iON colours or if it would be in generic grey as a leased spare.

Considering it's not too difficult to change the colours on it they are building it in ION colours. Plus it's likely to stay in the fleet after the warrantied repairs anyways.

This tender is marked as cancelled now.

A revised RFP was posted for the 4 30ft diesel buses yesterday. Bids are due August 6 and the region still requests delivery by April. Optional pricing is requested for hybrid and electric buses.

Where would they use 30 ft buses in the region?  Cambridge?  "Plus" routes?  Route 21..?

It's not too hard to build charging stations relatively quickly and efficiently

The problem isn't building them.  The problem is finding locations to build them as many transit terminals are private property.  The respective property owner will probably not want to go thru the hassle.   Too much red tape and bureaucracy involved.

the new 30 foot buses would be placed on the bus plus routes only

As far as I know, the 30 foot buses will be assigned for route 27. The BusPlus and 901 Flex routes are still under contract to Voyago. I'm not sure if they're going to extend that contract.

Speaking of the Flex project, did anything come of the 902 and 903 Flex experiment?

chris the 27 is a normal GRT route with a 40 foot the bus plus routes are 72-73-76-77-901.902-903 died off because no ridership.

what i been hearing is GRT  wants to take over the bus plus  routes totally there has been many issues with the cutaways that Voyago got.

There is a report on next week's council agenda to purchase 4 30ft Vicinity diesel buses from Grande West. These 4 buses will be used on route 27 beginning in fall 2021.

Grande West and City View (Eldorado) were the only 2 bidders. While pricing was requested for hybrid and electric buses, there was only one bidder for hybrid buses and neither submitted a bid for electric buses.
