All employers check the Facebook and other social media of potential hires these days. It gives more of a real picture of who the person is. Most periodically re-check as well.

Awesome thanks, any idea on the hiring process and when to hear back if chosen for an interview?

1. Telephone interview

2. Video test where you have to answer questions on different scenarios

3. Supervisor interview with a manager or HR

4. Drive test with Bruce or Cathy

5. Physical done by 3rd party clinic

6. Three weeks Licence upgrade done by Tricounty (if needed)

7. Four week training in class and in bus in and out of service with Bruce and Cathy in bus is with a number of seasoned operators

8. You must pass a written and driving test with 100%

then the real test begins you are part time for about a year doing some temp full time and some on call

The 3 replacing route 33 is a really good idea, the people in that area deserved the 33 running all day and now they get (which I am going to assume) Monday to Sunday service

"The restructured Southwest Kitchener routes would provide approximately the same level of service as current routes (with some variation due to the introduction of the Ottawa iXpress and ION LRT), so that the service change is cost-neutral"

Either the 3 will short-turn at Block Line, or more likely, the entire route will operate "rush hour only". I will eat my hand when the Huron Village/Rosenberg area gets seven day a week service.

"Either the 3 will short-turn at Block Line..."

Route 3 will continue to go to downtown Kitchener (the new transit hub) for one simple reason - GRT needs a route to run between the garage & downtown to shuttle their drivers.

Even though the number of routes going directly downtown will be greatly reduced, a good number will still go past the new hub. No doubt drivers will be starting/finishing shifts there. From what I can tell, the 3, 6, 7, 20, 34 and the 204 Ixpress will be stopping at it. Possibly more depending on what some of these new routes do, like the replacement 8 Courtland.

Hey folks, looking for some help from any recent hires or current applicants.

Short version: I'm currently a bus driver (CZ), looking to move to Kitchener to be with my SO. I'm at the last stage of recruiting - paperwork - having passed everything else.

Here's the kicker. I submitted my computerised forms that proved I passed my B knowledge test, medical, and basic police check, and the recruiter won't accept it. At first she just said there were pages missing, then after a fruitless DriveTest visit, added that she expected a handwritten form signed by DT staff. I've gone to two DT offices (Kitchener and Toronto), a total of 4 times, spoken to a total of 8 people, 7 of whom said they had no idea what GRT wanted as the forms I had were complete. The eighth - a sympathetic supervisor here in Toronto - figured out what it was after a few minutes re-reading GRT's e-mail, but insisted it was the handwritten form that they stopped using once they went computerised. She dug up a blank one for my own use, and even wrote in the date that the criminal check cleared (the only thing not on the computerised forms), but refused to sign it since she says it's deprecated.

The recruiter still won't accept it, insisting that no one else has ever had any problem getting this particular form. Yet I've tried 4 times in 2 cities. Any recent/current hires have any comments or suggestions on this?

Maybe try going into 150 Fredrick St personally and asking to see what she is looking for.  I had no problem with the paperwork myself when i did it 3 years ago, so I'm not quite sure.  The ladies up there for the most part are really helpful I have found when ever I have had questions.

Thanks, Rick. I may resort to that if I can't get anything else figured out.

I have the form she expects now, it's just that DriveTest says it's obsolete, and won't budge on it even to humour me. (And I'm not the type of person to make up a signature just to get the job.)

Why can't the 31 receive weekend service? It's the local equivalent of the 201 and an extremely important residential route in Waterloo, serving Eastbridge, Lexington, Lakeshore, Beachlawn, Laurelwood, Upper Beechwood, Clair Hills, and eventually Vista's Hills. Is there a specific reason that we can't have any buses running on Saturday or Sunday?

thats a Great question i was thinking the same thing the 31 is busy enough for weekend service.

in other news charles street terminal is getting some much needed work this week.

today all lanes are being paved.

Route 1 platform is being extended out for the start of GO Bus service in september Routes 25-30 will be serving the terminal on the platform where the 1-204 parks where there is no over hang.

I personally don't mind taking the sketchy forest trail from my house to the 202 bus stop or the long walk to the 6 stop during the weekend when I need to get to WKFA or Conestoga mall, however, I know dozens of people that are not willing to make that trek, especially in inclement weather. Eastbridge and the whole Columbia corridor would greatly benefit from extra service. I also believe that they need to space 201 and 31 trips out better when along Columbia; too often I see a 201 followed by a 31. I would much rather see a 31, followed by 7 minutes of no bus, then a 201. The 31 is quite busy during peak times, and I believe that it would benefit to increase the spacings between trips to every 20 minutes.

204 is not going to change the 1 is going on the other side of the pod behind the 204 Lackner the 22 will be sharing the platform with the 4 and the 4 will be moving back and forth across the platform at different times of the day so you will need to watch for it,  everything else is the same,  Expect shifts in platforms all this week as they pave though it may get a bit confusing this next week
