Transit 20

Anyone have any details on the Boardwalk transit terminal currently under construction? Is it going to be a standard mall-style set of platforms? Just curious...

There will be the current 4 single bus platforms and then when the construction is finished there will be three more platforms built. One single bus form and one 2 bus platform on the parking lot side of the new stores, and rumour is that one of the new stores being built is going to either be a Tim"s or a Williams.

So, according to the Record, I believe it's Route 18, 32, and 66 on the possible chopping block to bring the Regional budget into line. Anyone have any other info on this?

Following routes will be merged:

- 4 and 18

- 14 and 32

66 and Kitchener Train Shuttle will be discontinued.

23 will be extended to Fairview at all times, as well as new Maple Grove iXpress (which got fast tracked thanks to the $1M funding to improve transit in Cambridge).

Various frequency cuts, most notably route 10 on Saturdays, but I am interested in the Maple Grove iXpress routing if it would complement the frequency cuts for South Kitchener.

To add:

  • 71 will travel via Winston at all times to replace 66.
  • 23 will be extended to Fairview weekday off-peak and evening only, not on Saturdays.
  • Maple Grove iXpress will connect Conestoga College, Sportsworld, Hespeler, Lovell Industrial Park and Cambridge Centre via 401, Maple Grove and Franklin. Extension to Fairview will not happen until 2017.
  • 53 will be shortened to Cambridge Centre (as per Cambridge Transit Supportive Strategy).
  • 200 aBRT service will commence with new stops at Sportsworld, Eagle, Can-Amera and Delta. Cambridge Centre stop will be moved onto Hespeler Road and the Smartcentre stop will be discontinued.

Also:

  • 4/18 merge will hopefully looks something like this: http://goo.gl/maps/iOIrB (no proof yet).
  • Hopefully 8 Weber will be rerouted all the way down Weber instead of Union/Margaret/Queen. The 4/18 reroute, GO Shuttle cancellation, and the Margaret St. bridge closure all seems to suggest this, but again no proof.

Additional information for Maple Grove iXpress (still named route 112 in the report): http://rapidtransit....OFCAMBRIDGE.pdf
