Victoria Regional Transit System

I took a trip into Victoria Transit Centre this afternoon, and spotted 9889 in the new scheme. Also, 8911 is sitting in the 'dead' lane. She will not be in operation until she's had a major rebuild. This rebuild, according to Ian Watson, the Victoria BCTransit Employee who escorted me on an anti-clockwise circle around the depot, will feature less seats and new parts. Maybe the earlier image of a new livery on 926 will become reality with 8911, which is going to be a training vehicle.

Does anybody know what number 8911 was while she was in Surrey?

So 9889 was finally rebuilt. Good to know! 8911 is ex-Translink 4178.

Why yes, as a matter of fact I did. It's right here now:

I was just about to go for a dip in the pool around that time.

Also managed to get 9106 and 9212 in their new BCT schemes. I'll upload those momentarily to the wiki.

LOL! I thought that was you. I was sitting in the left had rear corner seat and spotted ya. I got off the bus right after that to see if you were still hjanging arounf but as you said, you high tailed it to the pool. Nice Photo!
(Pardon double post)

8103 is officially in the new scheme as of today! Seen at Royal Oak Exchange this afternoon:

Actually, 8103 has been out since at least last Thursday. Spotted and photographed it that day, but I thought it was already known on the board at that time.

8911 was seen Not in Service running around Victoria today! I believe this is the first time that 8911 (ex. S4178) has actually been running around in Victoria downtown. Did anybody else see it?

I did not get any pictures, but I have video footage which I will upload to my youtube account tomorrow afternoon.

Sweet! Hopefully BC Transit and I will be able to grab some shots of it when we come to Victoria tomorrow <_<

8911 is the training bus correct?

Alexander Dennis Trident 9007 had an oil/gasoline tank leak while on a route 70/72/73 at McTavish Park & Ride.
That's a shame, today was the day OC Transpo's double deckers entered service without a flaw.

So was it towed back to the garage? Just curious how you guys would do that.

Apparently they bring a massive tow-truck out to tow it back to the depot.

The only reason I know is because I saw it parked in McTavish Park and Ride with no driver, and then later on in the evening it was still there. I heard it had something to do with an oil/gas leak.

As for New Flyer D40LF 8041, it was a pressure problem. I boarded the bus Downtown and then near the Johnson Street Bridge, it conked out!

So I'll be in Victoria next Tuesday for a day before heading into Vancouver. Haven't taken any pictures of buses in Victoria (or even rode a bus in Victoria for that matter), so I am not sure where is the best location. Looking mainly for the E500's, Tridents and Novas.

Couple of Questions:

1) What's the best location for pictures of E500 and Tridents? (ie. What route are they on most often)

2) Where are the Suburban Novas stored during the day?

3) Any chance to see the old Translink Classics? (8901 and up) I read 8911 is used for training, anything else in Victoria?

4) Is 9527 Hybrid E500 usually out? If not, where is it usually?

5) The H40LFR is back being repaired, correct? So I won't expect to see it...

1.) Depending on whether the sun's out or not, the easiest spot and busiest intersection in downtown Victoria is Douglas and Yates. In the morning, the sunlight angle provides fantastic photo ops if you shoot across the street and capture the driver's side of buses, and the sunlight angle works great for the curb side during PM rush. UVIC is a good spot in the afternoon too, nice and bright perfect sunlight angle. Towards the evening around dusk, walk down to the harbour front to the parliament building, and there's a great spot at the intersection of Government and Belleville Street as the buses make a left turn to the final terminus. Double deckers can be easily found on the 4, 14, 26, 70x, 71, 72, 73 and you can capture everything at Douglas and Yates!

3.) 8911 is the only ex-TL classic running around in Victoria, and it's a training bus with the farebox removed. Other original BCT classics are still active for rush hours

4.) Theoratically it should be out
