Bentley
Surprised no one's posted this yet.Unstoppable trailer Yeah, looks interesting. Apparently inspired by a true incident. With remake of Pelham 123, is Denzel Washington a closet train enthusiest?
captaintrolley
is Denzel Washington a closet train enthusiast? Isn't everyone? It does look exciting. A real nail-biter. The plot is kinda tired, but still looks good.
George L.
Me and a friend of mine were actually discussing the director's (Tony Scott) obsession with trains a couple of days ago . There was also another scene in Enemy of the State (also directed by Mr. Scott) where Will Smith and Gene Hackman were going through a freight train yard and across a very active right of way while being chased by FBI agents. (I think that's how it went )
smallspy
Apparently inspired by a true incident. Which in Hollywood doesn't mean a hell of a lot. Dan

BCT-3122-D800-10240
Heh. I will need to see this movie! Very interesting. This one reminds me a little bit of the old movie called "Runaway Train".

D. DeLarge
Looks pretty stupid. I guess I shouldn't have expected any better. I wonder how much of a train wreck this movie will turn out to be. Hopefully better than Atomic Train. The Silver Streak is still #1 in my books. Tom1122
The true incident it was based off of was on 5/15/2001 when CSX 8888 and 47 cars ran away from Toledo with no engineer on board. Yeah, looks interesting. Apparently inspired by a true incident. With remake of Pelham 123, is Denzel Washington a closet train enthusiest? BusRider
Wouldn't this be mostly imposable? Wouldn't the alerter go off after the controls hadn't been moved and apply the emergency brakes? Am I wrong?
Tom1122
Normally it would, but the alerter was inactivated that day as 8888 was going to be used for a transfer of cars IIRC. George L.
In anticipation of Unstoppable, Yahoo Movies created this slideshow highlating train action in various popular films. Tom1122
I saw Unstoppable yesterday; pretty good movie. It seemed to have borrowed a scene from the movie "Runaway Train". Plus this is the first time since 1976 that a movie had a runaway train led by two CP locomotives painted and lettered for a fictional railroad. general682002
Saw it last night, interesting story but the pizzaz special effects and all the Hollywood stunts, is it really happening in some shots? I can think a couple that are impossible to happen! I enjoyed it anyway.
smallspy
....I'm jokingly calling it "Snakes on a Train" Except without Samuel L. Jackson (Drink mah beer - it'll getcha drunk!), it's likely to be far less interesting than SoaP. Dan
alco3612
I thought the movie was ok, the acting in it was pretty good and same with the action and the special effects, but I still can’t wrap my head around all of the inaccuracies that should have been very simple to do correctly regarding railway operation.. Like in the scene close to the end where he tells the operator to apply the independent brake on the engine and he clearly applies the automatic!!! Though if you havn't seen it yet, I do recomend going to see it.
CN7066
Normally it would, but the alerter was inactivated that day as 8888 was going to be used for a transfer of cars IIRC. If 8888 had an alerter. There are some locomotives out there with no Reset Safety Devices at all.
smallspy
8888 did have an alerter, or the then current equivalent of it. Apparently CSX spec at the time was for it to be disabled when the independent brakes were on, however. Dan
