I can tell you that eliminating the northwestern portions of the 30N/30S routes (without adding additional service on the 31/33 to compensate) would be a really bad idea.

Fair enough.

No doubt there is ridership all up and down the 30N/30S. I should have clarified: I support eliminating these routes and replacing them with more service on simpler, less delay-prone routes.

It makes more sense to run, say, the 31/33 every 8-10 minutes consistently... rather than running it at 15 minutes with occasional, weird and erratic trips of 30N/30S.

Yeah 30N and 30S could go. It just overlaps routes 31, 32, 33, 36, and 39. But I do like seeing Andrews buses down in Friendship Heights and Tenleytown though. But if they're replacing that route they must add service for routes 31 and 33 before those buses get too packed.

Route 37 shouldn't go because its helpful for riders as I see. Only reason why it up for elimination is because it does not serve Georgetown.

2006 New Flyer D40LFR was on the 21A last night. I rarely see those D40LFRs in action.

They're usually active during peak hours really. You'll find them more in PM hours. 6103, 6136, 6138, 6159, 6162, 6170, 6181, and 6186 are currently there right now.

The 2020 XD40s and XN40s are currently on property at CET yard right now. The XN40s are officially 3275 and up and the XD40s are 4475-4499. The 2020 XN40s are going to have some of the same specs as the XD40s as well. Also are the following:

-Most the 2700s are retired and are used for training buses with 2717 being one of them

-1997 Orion Vs 4411 and 4412 are also there and now are most likely retired from training service

-2000 Orion V 2191 is also there and another Orion V

-2006 Orion VII CNGs 3033, 3034, and 3035 are there as well officially retired which means 3001-3028 and 3030 are still running at least

-2006 New Flyer D40LFRs 6154, 6158, 6171 and another buses are reserve as a training fleet only now (most likely either 6149, 6150)

-2011 New Flyer XDE40 7100 is also up there now officially retired

Are any of the new XN40s blue for the Metroextra routes or is it to early to say?

Unfortunately I heard WMATA will not do anymore blue buses due to maintenance reasons and costs. I wish some XD40s and XN40s were painted in MetroExtra scheme but it most likely won't happen.

How many 1997 Orion Vs are left on property? I know that #4408 and #4412, but #4411 is still around too? How many 2000 Orion Vs are left too?

Do you think that Cinder Bed and West Ox could get some of those new 2021 XD40s? Also, who will get the 42 new XD60 buses beside Bladensburg?

Couple of Orion Vs remain as Ik 2140, 2164, and 2149 runs for Montgomery shuttles and a few remain for other divisions for shuttles (idk how much are still around). Also the 2020 XD40 order is rumored to go to Montgomery and Shepherd Parkway but we don't know yet. Western, Shepherd Parkway, and West Ox might get the 2021 XD40s though.

Also the XD60s could split between Montgomery, Shepherd Parkway, Andrews, and Bladensburg. I do wish Landover can operate tics but since most PG County routes go along narrow roads, tight turns, and unnecessary loops causes only 40 ft buses to operate along them.

Will it would be nice if Cinder Bed could get some too, but I guess they won't for another year or so since it is a contracted depot. Their fleet is kinda old though. Maybe once next year's XD40s arrive, that will shake things up a bit since it is it will be alot of new buses coming in. The 2008-2009 DE42LFAs could be transferred back out of Landover, Southern Ave, and Sheppard's Parkway depots along with the 2012 Orion 7.503 EPA "3G" BRT hybrids since TAGS will also be gone soon. Give Cinder Bed some 2011-2012 XDE40s just to update their fleet and West Ox could get some new XD40s along with the newer 2016 XDE40s and keep some 2009 DE37LFAs. I understand that more XN40s will arrive for 2022 to retire the 2007 C40LFRs?

Yeah I miss DE40LFAs from Landover but operators there are so picky with those buses (female operators don't like them and operators had problems with turns and hills since PG routes basically goes on narrow roads and tight turns and unnecessary loops that can be served by another route). 3082-3087 will probably head back to Western if the TAGs are eliminated and Cinder Bed will still be contracted for another few years so they'll be stuck with older buses. But Andrews, Cinder Bed, Shepherd Parkway, Western, and West Ox could use some new XD40s or in general new buses as their fleets are getting old. Also the XD60s are supposed to go to Bladensburg to replace the NABI 60 CNGs.

I wouldn’t give Cinder Bed any new buses yet.  I see their buses every day.  A lot of them have body damage, touch up paint that doesn’t match, and the Metrobus logo behind the rear wheels missing or only reading met.  Their 6300s look like they have aged 10 years since the division opened.

Yeah, I while driving south on I-95 by the interchange in Springfield yesterday, I saw a #63xx on the 18J heading to Pentagon and it was smoking, like wtf?!? It's weird how the 2005 DE40LF hybrids smoke FAR less then these 2009 DE42LFA hybrids. The A in their title, (meaning "Advanced") is almost laughable...

Do you think that we'll see more XE40s from Metro in the near future? I know that DASH bus is getting some this year. Also, is Fairfax Connector going to get Artics soon? I heard the XE60 that was testing at DASH went to FFC?

I haven’t seen the XE60 yet.  I know the 401/402 route could use it, however there are a few turns that it would struggle on.  Also wondering if they will help out with the orange line shutdown this summer.

Does Fairfax Conncetor even have the ridership to support articulated buses? Anyway, in other WMATA news, the former Royal street depot has finally been torn-down and is now officially history. I'm surely going to miss that garage. To think it took them 5 years to do so unlike Arlington depot which was destroyed months after West Ox opened. Is Northern depot still standing?

The 401/402 runs basically 24 hours a day and every 10 to 20 minutes during the day.  It would help with the bus bunching on the route too.  Route 1 has high ridership also.  Not sure about the Reston Herndon area.

When is the last 401/402 trip? You said basically.

Lol, they might as well then, right?? With that in mind, they might as well bring 24 hour service to Metrobus too if they don't want to do that for the subway.

I could see some Metrobus routes run 24 hours a day.  The 1A, 10A/B 16A, 16E, 28A, and 38B routes would probably be good candidates.

23A, REX, and Metroways too on the VA side. In D.C., The 70, 80, 30S, 30N, P6, D6, 42, 90, and 92. Maryland, perhaps the NH1, NH2, K6, and a few others.

When the second section of the silver line opens up, they should consider running the 5A when the metro is closed to help people go to and from the airport.

Basically anything at Cinder Bed breaks down. Only the TAGs Orion VIIs are doing well down there. Their DE40LFAs are getting murdered by Transdev.

Yeah some routes could use 24/7 service. 30N/30S, 70, 90/92, A2/A6/A8, P6, S2/S4 already kinda has 24 hour service but can be expanded on.

That would be nice but it’s a long shot of happening. The 10N is basically an example and that Route is suffering from low ridership and might be eliminated soon.
