Cinder Bed is open again.  I can see West Ox reopening when FMR is renovated.

Is there a time line as to when Four Mile Run is going to get Renovated?

Is making this depot both electric friendly and Artic capable part of the plan? If they choose to do a total depot shutdown,  then I can see West Ox, Cinder Bed, and Sheppard's Parkway doing most of it's routes with possibly some help from Western and Southern Avenue as well.

Theoretically, things could be split up like this: West OX: 1s, 2s,5A (until elimination),16L,25B,23s,26A...                                     Southern Avenue: 10s, 11C...                Cinder Bed: 7s,8s,10s,17s,18s,21C,28s,REX....                     Sheppard's Parkway: 16s,28s( split with Cinder Bed), 29s, Metroway..    Western: 3F,4B,22s,38B..

I don't think they'll close FMR and if they do, it'd be a larger workload for West Ox (if reopened) and Cinder Bed. And Southern Avenue gonna be closed well into the future.

Seems like 2020 New Flyer XN40 CNGs #3315 and #3316 were transferred to Bladensburg Depot from Four Mile Run recently. Bladensburg also acquired 2009 DE37LFA hybrid #3769 from Sheppard's Parkway Depot too along with #3768.

Also, why is DE42LFA #6388 OOS?

Yeah they were transferred to Blade. Not sure about 6388 tho.

Those new XD40s are the first factory new, non-CNG buses for VA in over a decade. Infact the last new non-CNG buses for us was the #6500s assigned to West Ox,  which goes to show how little love WMATA Metrobus has for VA depots...

Hold up, so does that Mean Cinder Bed is open again now? Separately I heard a rumor from a higher up Metrobus instructor over on FB yesterday saying that West Ox will be returning VERY soon and that would shake things up system-wide again.

Where on Facebook did you hear about West Ox?

I saw it somewhere in the WMATA group.

There's no exact timeframe...

Honestly,  I doubt they would want to close FMR altogether as well, because it would case such a headache for the rest  of the system. Metrorail's issues are bad enough with the 7000s being MIA ...

I do hope West Ox reopens though, I do think WMATA will look at how Cinder Bed will do first before the possibility of reopening West Ox. I got a feeling we are expecting another huge shift next summer of fall if WMATA does loosen the load up at FMR.

Since tmw's snowstorm calls for a severe service plan, new Cinder Bed is delayed until Tuesday.

Yup,  most Metrobus service is suspended except the 70, X2, 79, and a couple others. All VA side buses (WMATA and otherwise) are 100% SUSPENDED.

Saw a video of a new #4500 series XD40 getting stuck. Another of a 2011-13 XDE40 hybrid as well.

The snow was insane.

snow was bad today, some routes that cameback were the 70s, one Z line, 31/33, 32, and X2. Everything else is halted. Tmw WMATA is starting on a severe service plan again, but some routes might be suspended still

Because omicron and a operator shortage, WMATA announced yesterday that they will begin operating a modified Saturday schedule on the Weekdays beginning January 10, 2022

Welp, so much for the service enhancements. Next they are going to revert back to the 75 or even 50% Metrobus coverage plan...

The 4600s barely entered service from Cinder Bed and are already dirty lol. Snow really gives the buses a different appearance

Those are really nice (albeit dirty) new buses. Is #4629 the highest new unit in service?

Is that true? When is that rollback plan going to start?

They are!

This pics exhibits a valuable secondary feature of full-color, bottom-to-top paint schemes: they hide dirt.

Not that buses "should" ever be dirty. But it's inevitable in four-season climates. So... design for it!

Mostly white buses (i.e. the majority of buses in the US :( ) make routine road dirt highly visible. Here, it gets lost against the red and silver.

Just don't forget to drive that beauty through the wash rack when she returns to Cinder Bed!

FMR is helping on the 29N too!   Has anyone seen the 8000s out of Cinder Bed lately?

Saw 8076 and 8077 this morning on the 17 lines. And buses are all over the places guessing messed up trackers or loans. We also have a bus numbered 22449! Except thats probably a glitch.

I don’t know what is going on with Clever Device/BusETA these past two days.   FMR buses are showing up on Cinder Bed routes in Burke, and 6378 shows up on the 28A and then disappears.   4622 shows up on the 16A off route too.   I have been noticing a lot of Not In Service signs lately and the wrong route number on the buses.  22449 showed on the 16A earlier today.

Same here, tracking is a mess rn, and some buses are tracking all over the place but on the incorrect routes. We have 5474 on the U4 apparently, though thats likely an X2 bus. 3248 was on the 83 earlier then disappeared (likely a G8), and yesterday 5483 on the F4 which was just an R2. And idk what is 22449, likely an XN40 that was incorrectly coded. Plus Southern Avenue seems to be helping a few Blade and Shep routes but barely any of their buses are out rn.

7067 was tracking east on the 16A until it passed John Marr Drive where it should have turned.   It then disappeared.  Now it’s on the 29N east.  I couldn’t figure out earlier why a 30 footer would be on the P12!

Those "loans" seems to just be on the other routes (example 3248 showing up on the 83 ended up being a G8).  The only loans I could see are Annex buses all on Bladensburg or maybe Shep routes.

The other night at about 11:25pm I saw 2 brand new XD40s and an older XDE40 deadheading westbound on I-495 near Springfield driving away from Cinder Bed. I'm not sure where they were headed to.

Ik somewhere past Woodbridge (likely Manassas or Fredericksburg) they'll go there for maintenance. Ik FFC sends some buses there too I believe.

Once again, the 7000 series will not return for another 90 days as WMATA will focus on the root cause analysis and technology solutions for the 7000 series axles. The derailed cars (7200-7201) are currently sitting at the back at Alexandria Yard sitting right next to the Money Train railcars.

It also seems 6442 and 6445 were retired as they got out of service tags at CET. Seems that 6404 and 6388 followed suit but not sure on anything. Also 4568 is out of service, has damage on the front of the windshield. 5535 is back in service though.

There's also ALOT of retired 2009 LFA hybrids still parked at Cinder Bed.

#4568 damaged already? It's always new buses getting into wrecks so soon, I never understood that.
