Last I heard, its around Baltimore.  Any updates on the 6000 series cars?

Also, I predict that these next set of buses will be retired this year:

2005 New Flyer DE40LFs: #6001-6039

2006 New Flyer DE40LFRs: #6040-6050

2008 NABI BRT 60 CNGs : #5401-5422

Maybe they are waiting for the 2021 buses to come too, so they can all be deployed at once?

Any of our XDE40s left the depot for the inner city for overhauls yet?

What units were they?

Don’t know what numbers the Orion’s were, the numbers were taken off.

I hope WMATA do away with those rear windows though. Too many buses have back windows.

Shame that no one is buying those V's for private use.

I remember some in the summer of 2019.   One of them was 2172.   2164 and another one did the Montgomery Division shuttle in early 2020.

One of the last ones I rode before they got retired was bus #2152 out of Bladensburg depot on the D6 back in June of 2019.

Dang, I remember when #2172 (and alot of those first 80+ 2100's) were still out of Royal Street depot! That was a good bus.  Caught it one time in Spring 2014 on the 29C and it hauled ass!

Had that happened to me a few months ago when the 2020 XN40s were first being deployed out of Bladensburg. I was riding #329X (forgot the last digit) on the B2 was trying to record the take off after I got off. Some pricks were telling me to stop filming the bus and I cursed their asses out! They picked the wrong one...

Wednesday, December 27, 2017. 15:53 pm - 16:45 pm.

Federal Triangle, Washington DC - Silver Spring Station, Maryland.

The first time, I went to ride the bus and passengers, it was so pretty, nice comfortable full 61 seating and I like that bus! WMATA S4 (5475) XDE60 way to Silver Spring Station via 16th St NW. The outside it was just too very coldest between 20 to 30 degrees F and -6 to -1 degree C in DC Area. 2015 Bus.

Lmao that happens a lot. Another random dude got mad when i filmed 7373 on the C2 back in March. One of the C8 bus drivers was cool Of me filming and ask to remember him one day lol. A few FMR drivers at Ballston were asking me why I was filming when I was there one time as well. On 2929 and 2943 and another lady from West Ox (the lady was really nice tho). Other than that, had a few people on drugs interfere in the compilations I was doing and a lot of others either going around me while filming.

Still unsure when those XD60s will enter service. They been in training for months now

And they are still in the process of delivery now and replacing all of the 2008 NABI CNG Artics according to Wikipedia and 6 2006 Orion VII CNG 30ft buses are retiring and Some buses are being used as training vehicles.

only 2006 Orion VII CNG 30 FTs in service now are 3001, 3004, 3005, 3006, and 3009 but are starting to become less used now. Only thing we know about the XD60s is that two units are both at Montgomery (5504, 5507?) and Bladensburg (5500, 5503) and we’re unsure about a 5510.

Thanks for posting these!

I was once a daily Metrobus customer -- particularly on the S1, which often used Neoplan artics nearing retirement. Even those were nice to ride at their advanced age.

These pics remind me how pleasant of an experience WMATA offers. Among large systems, they spec their buses quite nicely and they keep them very clean! Glad to see that they're committing to customer-friendly features:

  • High-visibility destination signs
  • Rear window
  • Comfortable seats
  • Effective cleaning regimen despite very heavy usage

I'm in a minority with this opinion, but I find ample evidence: WMATA runs the best bus operation in the DMV, hands down. Wish they got the credit they deserved.
