Had 3288 yesterday on the 80 not much of a difference to me besides the mirrors and the extra air vents for the operator and the floor switches for the turn signals  and when the wheelchair ramp is deployed there are lights that flash at the doorway and a announcement saying caution ramp is deployed , I had  2819 on my second block and WOW that Voith transmission! 2819 was definitely a joy to operate.

They’re basically a combined XD40 and XN40 rn. Honestly prefer the 2020 XN40s Over the 2018-19 versions.

also more entered service: 3276 on 64, 3282 on 80, 3293 on D6, and 3296 on B2.

Big news for Metro starting today.  You can finally use your iPhone 8 and newer or Apple Watch for Metrorail and Metrobus.  It will work on the regional bus systems too.

3279 is in service don’t know when it entered service tho.

also here ate picture: of one of our new XD60s at Andrews garage. It looks a lot similar to the XD40s and MTA NY XD60s. The second picture is out 3300s XN40s at Andrews for some reason. No they aren’t assign there and don’t know where they’ll be heading to. Picture by Antoine Edwards on Facebook.

Are the new buses also delivered to Andrews now?   Looks like the 3300s don’t have tags or DC inspection stickers yet.

Those buses are likely bound for Bladensburg as well. I suspect that Four Mile Run will get the last 30-40 units. Also 2016 XN40 #2881 is back in service as of a few weeks ago (rode it on the 80 recently, the bus is still basically brand new as it has been out of service since early 2016). Any word on #2915? That bus is assigned to FMR.

Are the 10 XD60s assigned to Andrew's? Do they even have artic routes? What about the 2008 NABI BRT 60 CNGs? Aren't they slated for retirement by year's end? Lastly, what's the status on the 2000 Orion 5's? Have the rest of them been scrapped yet? And will any be preserved?

Guessing so most likely. The MetroExtra Orion VIIs are basically retired for FMR since the 16Y isn't running

They also have the 7Y though, so, maybe they could use some of those remaining #2600's?

1. 2881 been in service for a little bit now maybe like a few months now. 2915 is still out of service I heard and nobody really knows about how that bus got Out of service. Four Mile Run could get 3310+ or 3320+ in my opinion, but they need like 20 or 25 I think.

2. as of right now the XD60s are parked at Andrews right and don’t know where they’ll be assigned to. I heard rumors of Montgomery or Bladensburg getting them but we don’t know quite yet. A couple of Orion Vs are around the place but they are used as reserves instead of the front liners. They’ll most likely never see passenger service again. None are preserved right now as I know of.

3. 7Y isn’t a MetroExtra Route so they don’t use the MetroExtra branded Orion VIIs.

Andrews isn’t a CNG division so they can’t hold CNG buses. I can see them becoming CNG in the future though since Andrews sometimes uses CNG buses from FMR prior to the Pandmeic.

Oops, could have sworn the 7Y was Metroextra. Anyways, I still find it interesting that the 2000 Orion Vs lasted as long as they did but NOT the 2000 Orion VIs. I wonder if they hadn't been so problematic, would have they lasted that long? I would have given them til 2015 max before retirement.

If the Orion VIs never caught fire, they would’ve lasted until 2015-17 ish but that means we would’ve never got the 2013 XDE40s since WMATA mainly ordered them to replace the Orion VIs. I think we would get the 2016 XDE40s not the 2013 XDE40s. Not sure however. 2000 Orion Vs were a workhorse and were really reliable. Too bad everything comes to and end.

also 4490, 4498, and 4499 are confirmed at Shepherd Parkway. No conformation on 4485-4487 or where they’ll go

Those last few are probably still at CET. I think we still would have gotten the 2012-2013 XDE40s because at the time we still had alot of 1997 Orion Vs in service. The Orion 6's basically took the retirement slots of the Orion 5's.

Yeah that’s why the 1997 Orion Vs lasted until 2016 instead. A bunch of them starting retiring until the sudden fires of Orion VIs

Have you noticed how the #4300's had retired before the #4200's and #4400's? I always found that weird, especially since the most of the #4200's were assigned to the D.C. depots while the #4300's were assigned to VA depots.

I remember a few 4300s in 2013 and early 2014 but haven’t seen them after 2014. Also 4400s I believe were retired prior to 2013 as I remember Landover had the 4400s for training only. Not sure when the 4400s and 4300s officially retired as I remember Landover mainly had 4200s prior to the 2200s coming from Western.

In other Ride On news, the new Proterra electric buses have entered service today I believe on the 18 and 25 (Ride On doesn't have a tracker right now so I'm not 100% sure). I heard the Nova Articulated buses will enter service later this month but don't know when.

It also looks like Bladensburg officially retired their MetroExtra Orion VIIs unless they're in reserve fleet. They haven't been tracked since the 2020 XN40s entered service since most MetroExtra routes are mostly running the blue C40LFRs and XDE40s, and the 2020 XN40s. Four Mile Run's 4 active Orion VIIs are still operating though.

WMATA released it FY2021 proposed changes which details a lot of service cuts on rush hour routes. I bet this Botta piss off literally everyone.

I saw these cuts coming.  All that fighting to keep the 3T and 29W and they get cut.  I was surprised they are also only keeping the 18P route too.   Surprised that they are getting the 2021 buses still too.  Baltimore is also cutting a lot of routes too, NYC has some bad cuts coming too.

Unless the federal government can give additional funding these cuts will most likely happen. I believe WMATA should do the following:

-Keep the 1B, 3Y, 4A, 8W, 8Z, 10E, 11Y, 16L, 16Y, 18G/18H/18J, 21A, 26A, 28F or 28G, 29C, 37, 39, 60, A9, G9, H1, K9, N2/N4, S1, V1, V7, W1, and X1

-Don't eliminate weekend service on the 62, C14, D2, G2, NH2, R4, R12, Z6

-Don't eliminate V12 and T14 Sunday service

-In my honest opinion, they can eliminate the 3T, 7C/7P/7W (West end BRT will replace these routes), 8S (same as 8W/8Z), 10N (no one really rides that route), 15K, 17K/17L (same as 17G/17H), 21D (same as 21A), 22C (same as 22A), 29W, 34, (same as 30N/30S/32/36), 97 (same as 96 basically), B9 (same as B8 and H6), C21 (same as C22), D1 (same as D2), D5 (same as D6 and Ride on 23), E6 (merge it with the M4), L1 (more people ride the L2), X3 (has multiple alternative services), TAG (S91)

-Also they can eliminate weekend service for the 30N/30S (same as 31/33, 32/36), 63(just transfer to the 64 at Georgia Ave), E2 (has the D4 on its side), X8 (not sure how this route performs)

-Keep the same frequencies on the buses proposed to have reduced frequencies and spans

-Don't change any rail frequencies or have any turn-backs

What I want is the F12 to be rerouted into Palmer Park, B24 weekend service, extend the M6 into downtown, merge the M4 and E6, reroute the A12 to New Carrollton to Addison Road while having an L12 run between Capital Heights and New Carrollton via Woodmore Town center, extend J4 to New Carrollton and give Daily service until the purple line opens, and a couple more I don't remember from the top of my head.

Honesly Ithink the Federal Government will give funding for WMATA because a lot of federal workers rely on most of the routes proposed to be eliminated. Also the public feedback will be negative to the point where the proposed cuts will get political via the DC/MD/VA councils (remember the 2019 proposed cuts before COVID?). That's why the only routes that were up for elimination are now the 5A (would be eliminated anyways once the Silver Line Phase 2 opens), B29, B30, TAGS (S80/S91), Z8 and Z11 (Flash BRT is supposed to begin later this month so the Z11 will be eliminated by then) because of public feedback and the city councils. I think a few of the routes will be cut but not all since everyone is literally gonna be pissed off.
